The Surprise of a Lifetime!!

The Setup

There was a lot of planning on his part. He took the day off work, had maids clean the entire house, went shopping for flowers and candles and then proceeded to set up the house the way he wanted it for the moment. I kept calling him on his cell phone throughout the day and he answered only one of my calls telling me that he was in meetings all day. He even had his secretary in on the secret!

I was supposed to meet Steve at his house after work to drive to his parents in Northport. Unfortunately for Steve, I missed the first train. I got the next train and when I called him to pick me up so we could get on the road, he told me he was feeling ill and couldn't leave the house. It was pouring rain - but what could I say? I started walking.

I was annoyed at the situation, soaking wet and freezing cold. I was also concerned for Steve. I answered the door, prepared to start complaining about the rain, etc. and I immediately noticed something was not quite right.

The entire house was lit with candlelight and he had taped rose petals on the wall across from the door, that read "Will You Marry Me?" with a spot light shining on it. He was standing next to it with the ring in his hand!
Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was so surprising, my first response was "You aren't sick?"

After it settled in, we did go to Steve's parents house for dinner. What he forgot to tell me was that my sister, cousin from Pennsylvania, and father from Florida were there to welcome me! He got me again! In all, it was a special night that neither of us will ever forget.
