He asked, she said yes!

The Place Our living room
(written by the bride) February 12, 2005 was a Saturday. We had an appointment to get our taxes done together (how romantic!). After our appointment Bill mentioned that he wanted to stop by the jewelry exchange to pick a Valentine’s Day gift for me. I was tired and really wanted to just go home, so I expressed that to Bill. He didn't listen to me. So we went to the jewelry exchange and I stayed downstairs so he can buy me a gift. (yes, for once in my life I had no interest in jewelry - shocking!). Bill came back downstairs after 10 or 15 minutes with a little red bag in his hand.
When we got home, he gave me my Valentine's Day present (later to be revealed as the decoy gift). He bought me a pretty pair of heart shaped gold earrings with little diamonds. They were very pretty, but deep down I was disappointed. No ring. We had dinner reservations for that evening and before I went to get ready, Bill asked that I listen to a song that he had just downloaded. It was a very nice song ("Good Witch of the North" by Everclear). So I sat there at my computer desk listening to the song when I heard the singer say "someday I swear I'm gonna marry you". So I asked Bill with a little grin "are you going to marry me someday honey"? Bill started to get teary eyed and reached in to his pocket, took out a box, opened it and asked me to marry him. I was in such shock that I was stunned into silence, literally. And for those of you who know me well, that is no small achievement! After a few minutes of unspoken excitement, Bill said “well, are you going to say yes??”. And of course, I did!
