Joel's brother and sister-in-law have always cooked for Christmas Eve. We started opening gifts between his parents, brother, my mother, me and Joel and were having a great time. |
• The Ring •
A 1.1 carat round diamond set in a Tiffany style setting with 2 bagets.
The last gift to be opened was the super-secret one!! Joel came over and kneeled down next to me and handed me a little shiny bag. Inside the bag was a small white box, with a beautiful wooden box inside of it. When I opened it, my ring sparkled and shone beautifully! All I heard was gasps around me and my mother yelling "Oh my God!!"
Joel then asked me to marry him and he put the ring on my finger. Of course I said yes and we kissed and hugged and laughed at the reaction of our families.
Our plan went like a charm! We had picked the ring out together a few weeks earlier and planned to do the proposal in front of our families. Everyone was completely surprised and happy. We called our Grandmothers - at 11pm - to tell them the good news and they too were very happy.
The next day, Christmas Day, was spent talking about what, when and where our wedding will be - which of course we had no idea yet! All we knew is that we wanted to have a nice, lo-key event with all of our friends and family.
