Perfect Timing: How Much Time Should You Take For Your Honeymoon

by Mia Bolaris-Forget (Staff Writer NYCityWeddings)

Unless you’re like that couple on Dr. Phil that celebrated their honeymoon by escaping to the local Octoberfest, it’s likely you and your sweetie have planned or expect to plan some time away.

And, like most you’re probably thinking a weekend getaway at minimum and about two weeks max. And, that likely included travel time to and from your desired destination.

However, the one thing experts note most couple’s “don’t” factor in, is “essential’ extra time for “settling in” and “settling down” after the honeymoon and before getting back into the full-swing of the daily grind.

In fact, professionals suggest serious thinking about taking some extra time off before returning to work and your usual routine. They note that after all those months of stressing and planning (and possibly “arguing”), some (additional) spare time is just what newlyweds (often) need.

They recommend factoring in (to your getaway equation) a few extra days or some added time off to simply unwind from your trip and to settle into your new home and life, just the two of you.
