Buff (And Polished) Brides: New Trends In Wedding Day Nails

by Mia Bolaris-Forget (Staff Writer NYCityWeddings)

When it comes to your wedding, it’s likely you spent endless hours color coordinating the groom and his guys to you and your gals, and of course boutonnières, bouquets, table linens, table setting, moms and dad, and décor HAVE TO match.

But, when it comes coordination, some of the finer, perhaps “minor” details often get overlooked.

Most girls choose makeup they are comfortable with and when it comes to their nails, French manicures seem to be the big winner.

But, some avant-garde experts suggest a “bolder” approach that encourages brides to pair their polish with their petals.

Here are a few of their most popular recommendations:

1. Red Hot Hues: Choose red or burgundy polish for flowers with similar tones. According to experts, it’s a fabulous way to make a bold statement by the bold and beautiful bride. Remember to keep cuticles neat and clean and to apply fastidiously for best results.

Professionals suggest brownish-reds for those with olive toned skin and bluer reds for paler, pinker skin.

They also point out that the bolder and deeper the color, the shorter you nail (should be). So, if you have and love long nails think pink, sheer pink that is. Other options include champagnes and creams.

2. Bright Ideas: Effervescent hues such as bright yellows and oranges are best brought out by nude tones. While they may not look like much in the bottle, they can do wonders for well-groomed nails. Plus, experts assert that opaque varieties help hide spots, marks, or bruises on nails. And, these polishes are great for gals with short, “stubby” finger, since they make them look longer.

Professionals recommend trying hues you otherwise wouldn’t use and asking for professional input and suggestions. Remember the look here is understated elegance.

3. Pleasingly Pastel: Professionals suggest feminine pastels such as lavender to pick up one of the softer colors in your “Victorian” bouquet. These hues look especially “hot” on darker skin tones and tanned brides. And, for fair skinned bride, you can polish your “act” with subtly soft pearly pinks, whites, or if you’re more comfortable, with a traditional French, it’s always an option. Remember, in this case, less is more.

4. Say Oui, Oui, To Being Fabulously French: Consider a chick French manicure with a whiter shade of pale and Stardust on the tip to compliment simply beautiful blooms of all white. You can also opt for sheer ivory, pink and beige as the main color and silver for your tip, depending on your ring.

Keep in mind that when selecting a metallic shade, you want to avoid those polishes with glitter; you’ll only wind up looking funky.
