Let The Festivities Continue: The Day After And The Concept Of Gift-Opening Parties

by Mia Bolaris-Forget (Staff Writer NYCityWeddings)

Lots of brides say the one thing they miss most about the wedding being over is also being the center of attention.

Well girls, for those of you who want one more day in the limelight, here’s the latest in bridal trends is what’s come to be know as a gift opening party.

That’s right a day, set aside just for you to be “Queen” for another day and for you to open more presents.

Typically the gift opening party, takes the concept of the “morning-after” brunch one step further, inviting remaining and local friends and family to gather for some more food and festivities and giving you the opportunity to share with them all your excitement as you open the gifts they each presented and offered at your reception.

If however you are “uncomfortable” about potentially embarrassing some of your guests, hurting their feelings, or giving others fodder for gossip, perhaps you can arrange a compromise, host the brunch but only open actual gifts, but not monetary presents, or simply wait until the only people left are his parents, yours, and perhaps siblings and best friends, before digging into your gifts.
