Real Weddings: Josh and Bonnie

Josh and Bonnie
beachbum05

Josh and I (Bonnie) got married on 6/21/08 at the Old Field Club in Setauket.

Our wedding was a really special, laid back, beautiful day. We had a vintage/glamorous theme with a lot of old fashioned hints. I used a birdcage veil, bold blue earrings, lots of gold and green, and had gorgeous fuchsia flowers that really made our colors pop. My dress was really simple and had a vintage look to it. All of the men wore just bowties and suspenders - no vests! - and the women wore tea-length jcrew meadow green dresses. People have said like it looked like a jcrew spread. I honestly just thought it had a clean, simple look!

Hair - Nicole D'Angio (Fresh Face Forward for bridesmaids)

Our wedding was different from others in SO many ways. We didn't have it at the traditional LI catering hall, we wrote our own vows - which was the most special thing we could have ever done - and we really focused on being there for each other (whether it was me and DH - or us being there for our families, or friends, etc.). Nine months before the wedding, my father passed away from a sudden heart attack. Being the only child, and having planned this day for more than a year before his passing (we had a 2 1/2 yr. engagement) it was really tough on me. But I had my mother walk me down the aisle and I carried my fathers picture on my bouquet. We (me and DH) also did bouquet presentations and individual speeches to our mothers in lieu of the traditional parent dances. Along with our vows, this will be the moment of the wedding that I remember and cherish most. Our mothers were so surprised and appreciative. It really humbles me.
