Real Weddings: Tom & Tracy
Groom: Thomas McDougal (Age 26)
Bride: Traci McDougal (Maiden name: Hennen, Age 26)
He Said:
"It Was a Blockbuster Night" quite literally. Traci caught Tom's eye and captured his heart with her warm, friendly "Blockbuster" smile. Tom often frequented the store Traci worked at to rent either a movie or video game. Traci was always smiling, so being polite, he figured, he'd smile back, only to one day find that he was smiling for more reasons than simply being nice. Ironically, a friend of Tom's and colleague of Traci's mentioned Traci, and that she'd noticed Tom in the Old Navy he worked in. Shocked and flattered Tom began inquiring more from Mary, until one day he decided to take the plunge and ask Traci out. Tom devised a plan to go in for a rental and purposely end up on Traci's check out line. That part worked out okay, but once he got up to pay and started making "small talk", Tom got so wrapped up in conversation he forgot to ask her out. Plan B quickly took effect. Tom called Traci at her job immediately when he got home and (nervously) asked her out.
She Said: "Who ever said you can't mix business with pleasure". Traci was thrilled when Thomas called to ask her out and immediately accepted. It was kind of cute how nervous he was about the whole thing, she said. Traci had actually noticed Tom quite a while before while conducting her frequent shopping sprees at the Old Navy where he worked. Traci had thought he was extremely good looking and a hard worker, and had even managed to exchange a few pleasantries with him during some of her shopping excursions. Much to her surprise, she noticed that he started coming around to the Blockbuster she worked at and pointed him out to a friend. As fate would have it, Traci's friend sort of "knew" him and said she'd find out about his situation. Now he was actually on the other end of the phone exchanging numbers with her, and asking her out. Traci, of course, accepted, and they decided to go play pool, but here's where it gets interesting. Initially Traci wound up at the wrong pool hall, and after waiting for quite a while in disbelief of actually being "stood up", she decided to take a chance and head over to another local pool hall, only to find Tom shooting a game "solo" waiting for her.
Popping The Question: It was the couples 5-year anniversary as a couple and they had made it a point to always do something special to celebrate their love and commitment. This year however, Tom had secretly planned to make their celebration extra special. Reserving a romantic room at a posche Pocono resort, he simply told Traci to pack and be ready for a road trip (but failed to mention it was the road to the rest of their life). When Traci inquired about where they were going and what she should bring (pack), Tom simply replied "YES" to every question, hoping she later would do the same for him. So, Traci packed everything she thought she'd need and began to drive toward their destination. Once again Tom threw her off track by booking a room at a nearby hotel and telling her they'd rest there for the night before continuing on their destination in the morning.
That night the couple painted the town red, then rested for their next day's journey, which landed them at Caesar's Palace where they would celebrate their 5th. They kicked off the festivities by commemorating their initial meeting, by shooting pool, and much like their first date, Traci won. Traci and Tom began heading back to the room to change into something festive and elegant for their romantic dinner, only for Traci to be surprised by a carefully organized and orchestrated suite embellished with candlelight and music. In fact, the stereo was playing their song, giving Tom the opportunity to once again sweep Traci off her feet and into an enchanting dance that allowed them to reminisce about their life together and gave Tom the chance to, on bended knee, profess his love and desire to make Traci his wife.
