Re: cancelling RH--crashing...need advice!I don't know about contracts outweighing laws, but I've seen lots of brides on here canceling their halls and all have tried to find someone to book on their date to get their money back. I assume that means that the hall is right here, but I'm not a lawyer so I don't know. | |||

Re: cancelling RH--crashing...need advice! My sister had to cancel her wedding in Suffolk and she DID NOT have to find anyone to take the date. They are lying to you. You get all the money back except that $100 bucks.

Re: cancelling RH--crashing...need advice!Posted by Leia1920 Crashing-but thought some of you might be able to help me out! So we have decided that we will be having a destination wedding most likely in January!!! YAH!! SO FH just called East Wind to cancel our date adn was told that they can not refund our deposit minus the 100 dolalrs until they re-book it. FH quoted The suffolk county catering law section 237-3 to them http://gcp.esub.net/cgi-bin/om_isapi.dll?clientID=141566&infobase=suffolk.nfo&softpage=Browse_Frame_Pg42 they stated that there contract out weights that law. does anyone know if that is the case? I would presume the law would outweight any contract that they put together?

Re: cancelling RH--crashing...need advice!I would say itprobably depends upon when the Hall was established compared to the law. So another words they may be "grandfathered" in under the old laws.

Re: cancelling RH--crashing...need advice!I don't know the policy of cancelling a rh but if the law states that you r entitled to the money I would def be down there demanding ur money back and threating legal action if they give you a hard time....as for a letter I would just simply say after much consideration we have decided to have a destination wedding and we will no longer need to use your services but we thank you anyway etc etc......good luck and I wish you and your fiance the best |
