Am I terrible for??
Handwritting the envelopes on my "THANK YOU" cards? I know the proper way is to print labels or print the font right on to the envelope but I am really anxious to get them out ASAP and began handwritting them with a black marker. They honestly don't look bad but am not sure if this is something my guests are going to look down on me for doing.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? This has been on my mind ALL night and it's really bothering me
Also, they are not all completed and almost half of them are done. My mom screamed at me last night for doing them this way and said it's embarrassing. My DH doesn't see anything wrong with it and thinks they look nice but being he's a guy I can't go by his opinion so decided to turn to my LIW girls.
PLEASE HELP, I am REALLY stressing over this

Re: Am I terrible for??
well if you're terrible for handwriting the addresses, then so am I.
I have never received a thank you card with a pre printed address. and IMO, does anyone really care?

Well they say the "proper" way of sending them is to "print" the envelopes. Which I personally think is a bit ridiculous, it's a "thank you" not an "invite". After hearing everyone's opinion on here I feel a lot better!!

They are supposed to be handwritten. Labels are a last resort.

Re: Am I terrible for??
I personally printed them out, but it was an easier process for me because I had it all set up before we got married. (insert geek icon)
But, that said, I handwrote a couple of them and IMO, I do think it's a bit nicer to have it all handwritten sometimes.
I just couldn't do anymore writing for the 225 cards I sent out!
You are fine - tell your MOM that LIW says it's good to go like that! I love the comment about your hubbie - they really have no clue no matter what!

I actually disagree, I think either is fine (no matter what an etiquette book says). I don't think it's a last resort anymore. I think it's a. personal preference and b. if you have nasty handwriting like me, you want it to look nice.
I can understand the "no pre-printed message" with no handwritten message inside the card, but not the labels. Certainly wasn't my last resort.

Re: Am I terrible for??
I thought it was the other way around, handwritten over labels? Kinda like handwritten calligraphy over printed? Not that it really matters in today's times. Digital stuff looks so nice, not like the old dot matrix, uneven, spotty printer days of the 80's. I think what I'm trying to say is that either is fine, it's more about personal preference.

hand writer, right here! I think people who type out or type a generic thank you kinda tacky. Handwriting shows you took the time to say thank you!!

I handwrote everything for the wedding. I think it makes it more personal. Don't stress out about something people are going to throw away.
