wedding reception.. any ideas?

We are getting married this July and would love to have our wedding reception and possibly ceremony in the city. However, we are working on a tight budget. Does anyone know nice places in NY city to have a reception (that does not break the bank)? We have looked at the Mark (too expensive) and lofts (site fee too high).

We loved the lofts but they were too expensive. Does anyone know how to have an inexpensive wedding at a loft?

Need help!!!

I went to view a restaurant that does weddings. Its called Maggie's Cafe and its in the city. They were really cheap about 75 per person and you get to use the entire restaurant and they have a separate section for the coctail hour. It was really nice, I almost had my wedding there. There is also a hotel called the Library hotel. I never went there in person but I saw it online nad it looks beautiful. My friend said their prices are affordable.

Try the Union Square Ballroom -- nice space and good price (I looked there for a work function.) Also try the 3 West Club and Reghal Royal Hotel.

There are some nice lofts, and a friend of mine also told me about Maggies and she said good things about it. Also, another option--try Long Island City, just 10 min to manhattan, great views. It is an industrial area that is becomming the next Williamsburg. Check out The Foundry. Also,The Alger House in the Village. Good luck sweetie!

We have our christmas party at the Alger house every year. It is beautiful for a smaller wedding. Maybe 75 ppl. But there is no separate area for CH.

Battery Gardens has a really nice private room. They are right on the water next in Battery Park. I'm not sure how many people it holds but you can look into it....

Believe it or not many people have said that Tavern on the green has great prices, don't know what they are though, but you might want to try and check it out.

Re: wedding reception.. any ideas?

what i did was call places and ask what i can get for less than 20 bucks a table and the only place to call me back was in astoria, on ditmars blvd.

22-41 31st Street
Astoria
NY 11105
PHONE (718) 728-7307

great service, very nice people and i had 400 people so i think i had over 30 something tables. i had i cannot remember the name of it but it was a type of rose that opened up beautifully in a fat vase.
