Ring Appraisal...Are you supposed to get your ring appraised at the jewlery store you bought it in. And if so, did any of you have to pay? We went to have the ring appraised to have it insured, so we went back to where we bought it. Now, I'm nervous that we weren't supposed to do that. Uh-oh | |||

Re: Ring Appraisal...Wherever you go make sure the ring is not out of your sight!! I went to Genaros in Bellmore and paid $50. You do not have to go where you got your ring. Just make sure the jewler does not take it where you can't see it. Genaros does everything right in front of you.

Re: Ring Appraisal...We paid $95 and we bought it there. My FI went alone while I was working and I don't thin the girl who was working knew he purchased the ring there. So, he paid. I think I may say something when I go back to pick up some jewlery I'm having fixed.

Re: Ring Appraisal...My ring came with an appraisal, but I wanted to get an independent one for the insurance company. They wound up being almost exactly the same. I didn't pay for either of them. The first came with the ring, the second, I explained the situation and she said that I could get a verbal appraisal and it wouldn't cost anything. Then if I wanted it written there was a fee. I can't remember what it was, but since the appraisal was almost exactly the same as the first, I didn't bother getting it. | |||

Re: Ring Appraisal...I just had my ring appraised yesterday at the Macy's on 34th You don't need an appointment but if you call they will explain the cost. It is 1% up to $10,000 and then a 1/2 percent for the remaining. The number is 212-494-3842 to check their hours.
