Just had an idea for table names!

At first FH and I figured we'd just do table #s but since we're only having 10 or 11 tables, I think people won't have too much trouble wandering around searching if we use table NAMES instead--this was the original concern.

So, here's my idea. Since FH and I are lawyers, each table will be named after one of our favorite law-related movies (i.e. "The Firm", "Adam's Rib", "12 Angry Men" (funny if we have a table of 12 I think) and, naturally, "Legally Blonde"). For the table cards, we can make color copies of the movie posters or the front of the DVD box (made into an appropriate size of course) and maybe even include a description of the movie and when/how we saw it.

What do you think? Is it cheesy or creative? When it gets past 11pm, I start to lose perspective

FAB idea -- I bet you could find movie posters too! I can give you a couple of good places in the city to get some -- we have a whole bunch in the office.

Thanks Deb, that'd be awesome! Do you know if they come in table-card appropriate sizes? The only ones I've ever gotten were HUGE--I needed to cover up my dorm room walls ASAP and the ghetto tapestries from the student fair weren't doing the job

Nah, they are gonna be big. Better off taking the DVD covers or the promo cards and having them color copied to be a bit larger.

FH and I just joined that Blockbuster "as many DVDs per month via mail" thing, so that might be the way to go. Kinko's here I come!!

watch it if you go to kinkos- make sure it is the self serve side they will not do copying of copyrighted material

might be better off to scan them intot he computer and rework them that way

ugh! you're kidding me right? It's fun! And, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is your wedding, and weddings are supposed to be fun!

Even if a few don't think it's 'classy' I'm sure a majority of your guests will love it - especially because of your and FH's profession

Seriously! And what happens if mommy dearest doesn't love it? I'm not supposed to do it? Ugh!!!! I'm not talking to him today. I need to preserve my sanity.

actually, we were going to name our table after our favorite infections: babesiosis,
tularemia, tuberculosis, schistomiasis....

do you think people will go for it?

That's what I told him. I just don't understand what his mother is going to add to the discussion. Like she knows better than I do what's in vogue at weddings these days (I do get like 4 wedding magazines a month!). Plus, FH's mother is in her mid-40's so all of her friends' kids haven't even gotten married yet. Nonetheless, apparently FH thinks she knows more than I do. And I told him all about my LIW girls and how a lot of people are doing this. Sometimes I could strangle him!

I think it's a great idea because I had a very similar idea! I wanted to name our tables after movies filmed in Brooklyn. I was going to use the DVD artwork on the table # placecard and then also put a little card on each table with some facts about the movie - when it came out, who starred in it, what neighborhoods it was filmed in, etc.
FI nixed the idea saying people wouldn't get it. Though I may still overrule.

Love this idea! I wanted to do something with movie names also because FH and I love movies...but that could get a little too broad and hard.

i think its a great idea. my FH and i are doing the same thing actually except its just with movies that we've seen together. our table will be "Catch Me If You Can" because that's what we saw on our first date. We're going to somehow incorporate the movie into the centerpiece but we haven't figured out how yet.

We're going to have our wedding invitations be movie themed. Our e-party ones were just made and they are kind of like a movie premier invite. really cute... but hard to explain.

my mother hated the whole idea at first until we showed her the invitation and she fell in love.
