Is anyone's MOH not doing a speech?

My MOH does not want to do a speech. And to be honest, I am hurt.

I had asked mine to, but she is shy and didn't want to, so I didn't push it. We just had our best man do it, my stepson, and it was adorable!! But I have been to weddings where the MOH has given a speech after the best man!!

I have never been to a wedding that the MOH has given a speech. If my MOH wants to make one, thats fine..if not, thats fine too!

What about at the RD? I said a little something at my friend's- as her sister was her Maitron and she spoke at the wedding.

I have two MOH's.. but I think one will need to back out.. so, the other may not want to do it on her own-- unless she does it with FH's best man- he has two- his bro and best friend.. this way it will both my best friend, and his..

I have two MH and I don't think either one are going to give a speech. I didn't ask them too.. but if they want to that is fine with me. :)

My MOH made a big deal about it, so I'm not gonna push the issue. Well, she made a big deal about being my MOH in general, so I'm just gonna take what I can get, lol.

I can GUARANTEE my moh will not do a speech but she is very shy and I am totally fine with it.
My bestman - he will be front and center thats for sure

I was the MOH in my best friend's wedding and I gave one. So I suspect she will give one too.

Is there a reason -- is she maybe afraid of speaking in front of so many people? Maybe you could give her another job instead of a speech like read something as part of a toast.

That's what she said. She is scared of doing it in front of people, so she said No. I asked her if she would be hurt if I asked one of my BMs. She said fine, so my FH called my BM and she said she would be honored.

Neither my MOH or BM will be giving a speech. We decided against it, knowing that my MOH is too shy for it - I know that I would be completely mortified if I had to do one myself (public speaking is not my forte!) so it doesn't bother me.

Mine didn't. Only the best man gave one.

I told my MOH she didn't have to if she didn't want to. My 2 brothers got married and were each others BM, and both gave great toasts, I was thinking I would ask one or both of them to make a toast instead of my MOH.

I'm not sure what we are going to do about that- I don't think my sister OR the best men are going to want to speak.

Mine is mad at me that I'm making her walk down the aisle by herself...she'll KILL me if I tell her she has to make a speech.

The Best Man will make a speech and that's it

My MOH (my sister) does not want to give one. She is very emotional and I know that if she starts to give them that she will probably be crying during the whole speech so she decided not to give one.

Nah...we went the traditional route and only had the BM give a speech.

I don't want the BM giving a speech. To be honest, I don't see him being good at all at public speaking, and am somewhat worried about what he would consider appropriate to say. I have heard too many stories about FH's friend's speeches that refer to the number of people the guy has slept with, etc. I haven't asked MOH whether she will yet...I don't think I will care if she doesn't want to though...

Me too. Though his 2 brothers are the best men so they will both be doing a speech.

I have been a MOH several times and was put on the spot once to make a speech and declined. I personally find it uncomfortable. I'm not a good public speaker - it was nothing against the bride or groom.


Other than that, I've never seen it done.

I went to a wedding once where 2 best men and 2 maid of honors did speeches ... waaaay to many speeches.

My sister was our MOH and she hates talking in front of people so she did not give a speech. We had two best men so it worked out fine. I wouldn't have forced her if she was uncomfortable.

My MOH did and was wonderful. She was nervous and kept it short and sweet. The best men spoke first and were long and hillarious. Her speech was a nice ending to the toasts.
