In the spirit of Thankgiving: Post your favorite Thanksgiving Recipe!
Ok I can't come home this year for thanksgiving so FH and I will be cooking our first thanksgiving dinner together.
I would LOVE to make a really nice dinner - so I would love to see what everyones favorite thanksgiving recipe is!

Have fun cooking! I wish I had Thanksgiving recipes for you. I have never cooked thanksgiving only desserts. DH still wants his mom stuffing.

I have a good soup recipe at home that I can post later, but if you're looking for good Thanksgiving recipes, the latest issue of Bon Appetit has some good ones....
P.S. - in this issue, Alton Brown tells you how to brine a turkey so that it cooks up nice and juicy

Re: In the spirit of Thankgiving: Post your favorite Thanksgiving Recipe!
One of my family's side dishes is candied apples and sweet potatoes. We all really like it, but I'm not sure we're the norm.
It's really easy and you can make as much or as little as you want.
Use a deep plan or casserole dish. Layer the sweet potatoes/yams (peeled and sliced about 1/2 inch) then apples (peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 rings). Then you put brown sugar and slices of butter. Repeat layering, and cover. I usually do 3 or 4 layers. I'm not sure how long they bake for, but if anyone is interested I can find out.
Not the healthiest, but yummy!
ETA: Should cook about an hour at 350-375, just until the potatoes are soft. Also don't be shy with the butter and the sugar. I probably use almost a stick of butter It tastes oh so good!

THANK YOU! Mom will give me some from her gourmet that we usually make - but I was thinking maybe I would try somethings that you all really love for something different!
So keep them coming!
