Late-Honeymoon- Looking for 4 days & 3 nights Island Getaway?
Due to work we were not able to take a honeymoon, but were thinking we could try to take a mini for the weekend of Thanksgiving. In the past we have always gone away for a full week.
Can anyone suggest any getaway places?? Must include: beach and water
I was thinking of Cancun, Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico??

If you want to do a luxury getaway, Atlantis is supposed to be fab. Ive only been there for one day but i definitely want to go back. Ive been told that you MUST get the meal plan b/c its so expensive to eat at the better restaurants without it.
Puerta Vallarta in Mexico is probably a more budget friendly place but still really beautiful and fun - a little less "spring break" than Cacun.
Dominican Republic has some really cheap deals in the winter too.

Look at the Royal Hideaway in Playa del Carment, Mexico. We went there on our honeymoon and it was great. Amazing food, beautiful rooms/grounds and NO KIDS allowed. www.royalhideaway.com
I would go back in a heartbeat! Ignore the prices on their website...they are crazy. You can book them through the travel sites (funjet, etc) for way cheaper.

I worked for a Travel Company for 10 years and Stef is right Atlantis is beautiful. Yes if you go there get the Meal Plan. Bemuda would be cool now so you don't want that for sure. Jamaica is my favorite, or if you are looking for less expensive florida would be a good choice. They also have three night cruises to Nassau. St Marteen is also nice but you got my vote for Jamaica, I think I've been there over 15 times. Really, Really love it and I have been to many of the Carib islands.

Re: Late-Honeymoon- Looking for 4 days & 3 nights Island Getaway?
Cooky, I never considered Jamaica in the past, because I have heard mixed things about it by numerous persons. Mainly, I've been told that if you go there, Do Not go to town on your own, or travel on your own with out a tour, that's it's better to stay within the resorts etc......? Which resort would you recommend??
The money is not really an issue, time is. My DH and I, own a small business together and also work together. The problem is it is difficult for both of us to be away from the business at the same time too long. So we were thinking to either, try and fit in a few days to getaway during the holidays coming up, when we would be closed anyway. Or wait untill January or February to try and get away for a whole week. But we could really use a little Sun and Relaxation soon.
If not Jamaica, which Island would you recomend?

Re: Late-Honeymoon- Looking for 4 days & 3 nights Island Getaway?
Gosh, in Jamaica there are so many good resorts, but if you only have a couple of days you really need to stay in Montego Bay the other two major towns are about a 2 hours bus ride from the airport those towns are a bit nicer and they do have the small planes that fly you over to some of the resorts and sometimes they run specials where the flight is free. I stayed for my Honeymoon in Ocho Rios in Sandals Plantation Bay. I really don't want to recommend any resorts, because I have been out of the business for a few years and a lot can change in four years. There are two Sandal resorts in Montego Bay. Now that you have a few ideas, go get some brochures from a travel agent so you can have more of an Idea. The towns, well I have been to them by myself but some people really don't like to go on there own. If you are only going to be there a few days you really don't need to go into town. Also the good thing about Jamaica is almost all the resorts are All Inclusive which means all your meals and drinks are include so you never have to deal with money except to buy things. Let me know where you end up going.

Re: Late-Honeymoon- Looking for 4 days & 3 nights Island Getaway?
Cooky, Thank you very much for all the informaiton! I will look into Jamaica or maybe or if not another Carabean Island. We have never stayes at an all inclusive resort before, mostly because we like to come and go outside the hotel and also eat out. Are these resorts mostly for couples??

Jamaica is really beautiful, but if money is not object, you might want to go to a more luxiorious place like St Thomas or other Virgin Islands.

Re: Late-Honeymoon- Looking for 4 days & 3 nights Island Getaway?
I think Bahamas is a perfect place for a quick getaway. It's not far, I think our flight was like 3 hours and there are tons to do there - and you don't have the 'fear' factor that you do in some other islands.......
You could do an all inclusive at Sandals - rated 10 - couples only or if not all inclusive then like you said, Atlantis would be incredible, it's beautiful there. (not couples only - children allowed)

Ooooh, I have seen beautiful picutres of the Bahamas, maybe that would be a good choice if the weather is hot at the time we go.... I will re-think Atlantis, because of the children, we are looking for more of the relaxed, quite places.
Thank you "all" for your great suggestions and input!! I really appreciate your help!!

We went to Aruba for 5 days-4nights. We got a great deal because of American Airlines "Fall Special". I would recommend Aruba in a heartbeat. It was only a 4 hour flight and we started enjoying the sun the minute we got there!

Re: Late-Honeymoon- Looking for 4 days & 3 nights Island Getaway?
Yes there are a lot of Couple resorts in Jamaica, the Sandals have first class restaraunts inside there property and usually 4 or 5 so it really is just like going out to dinner but everything you order on the menu is include, including your drinks at dinner.
Atlantis is really nice too, but much more children running around. Aruba is nice too, but it depends on what you are looking for Aruba is very dessert looking where some of the other islands are more lush and tropical.

Re: Late-Honeymoon- Looking for 4 days & 3 nights Island Getaway?
We went to Our Lucaya on the Grand Bahama Island. Absolutely gorgeous!!! We looked into Atlantis but thought it was too commercial for us. On the Grand Bahama Island, it feels more Caribbean themed. Laid back, relaxing... It all depends on what kind of honeymoon you're looking for. Also, Our Lucaya is ALOT cheaper than Atlantis. Their website is www.ourlucaya.com Good luck!
