I agree. The Shining is the scariest movie I have seen. The Ring is also a very good scary movie. You can check out Signs with Mel Gibson as well. That was a great movie.

Yes, I agree Ring is scary, but nothing to turn your head away in my opinion.
Shining is scary but long
28 days later is a shocker scary movie. Makes you jump but no nightmares afterwards.
Dawn of the living dead is old fashioned but creepy.
The original Haunting and House on Haunted Hill were both sorta chilling but now outdated. The remakes are in my opinion a little on the cheezy side but get the job done.
In the Mouth of Madness was a good crawl up under the covers kind of movie, nothing too scary, but wicked all the same.
Im sure I could think of more, but it's hard to scare me these days.

Oh and turn your head gross and really off the wall I'd have to go with Event Horizon.
Messed up imagines in there when you get glimpses of whats happening.
I still like to crawl up with the Omen or the original (1st one only) of Children of the Corn. That or any of the other Living Dead movies.

I am going to have to go with The Ring or Signs. Or go old school Pet Semetary. The Shining - I get mad at the kid in that movie. I would woop my kids be-hind if he wrote on the wall with Mommy's lipstick.
Mommy spent $24 on that lipstick you little.

i liked signs - yes some of the ring was like, what ????
But I,m really not into blood and guts ones so it limits me.
A real horror movie buff would probably have more options.

I am a horror movie fanatic!! We tried to see Texas Chainsaw this weekend but it was sold out.
By far the scariest movie I have ever seen is the Exorcist.
If you want a little more current, Nightmare on Elm Street is a classisc, and I loved Final Destination. It's just a different kind of scary.
They don't make horror movies the way they used to, like the Exorcist and the Shining. But I love the gory stuff too.

house of 1000 corpeses i agree was SOO scarey... there was onother Rob Zombie movie that starred dee shnider that was scarey but i dont know the name..

Dh and I went and saw Blair witch in the opening weekend and we had not heard a thing about it, we started watching and thought it was cool how it was video tapes found and so on.... But we sat through that movie as though it was totally real and these poor kids are missing and there are really witches. lol. but that was the scariest movie. I also just went to texas chainsaw and that was also scary
