Post Pics/Share Ideas of your Foyer/Entranceways
OK this is a project thats a snowball result of another.
We're having our wood floors refinished and since I "Eventually" wanted EVERY STITCH of wallpaper OUT OF MY HOUSE, we decided to remove the entryway/and corridor wallpaper before doing the floors (And then paint after the floors are done). Will be done within the next month..
Im not a "White" type person, so any hint of color would be nice. although it cant be too colorful, it should be neutral and plain, its just the darn entry area of the house.
I have a high ranch, to give you more of a visual. Its a beige/textured wallpaper now. I plan to do something like a ragging effect when we paint. Semi-Gloss finish right? SO that it's easy to clean? Would you do the corridor any different than the entry way? (right now its all the same, it kinda flows into eachother...)
Opinions or ideas?

I would paint before you put the floor down, then you wont have to worry about getting paint on the new floor.
It all depends on what type of effect you are looking for in the foyer. If you are going to do some type of ragging, then I would recommend only ragging one wall...The biggest wall, I guess. I would also think of painting the walls a lighter warm color like a pea green or a warm beige color. Nothing too light, and nothing too dark. Benjamin Moore

Do you see your foyer from any other room? If so you may want to coordinate with that room so everything flows.
We are in a ranch and you see our foyer from the LR. The LR is a pale yellow. I did a rag tech. in the foyer using the pale yellow as a base and green (close to my DR color) as the glaze. I have received a lot of compliments on it.
PS - I found that its worth it to buy the actual glaze rather than water down paint. You get more depth. I used Benj Moore products.

Fran, I think we'll use glaze also. We happend to be in home depot once just as they did this big demo on ragging techniques. It was great!
Danielle-I also thought of painting before the floors, and got suggestions from 2 people that all the dust and may mess up the paint? and especially with the moving of furniture and machinery, possibility of scuffing the walls up?
thanks for the ideas girls.
Fran I also thought of the color thing. My LR is right by the foyer, and its an olive color. The DR is right by that, and it has wallpaper which will eventually be removed... That yellow/green sounds nice! do you have any pictures?? or can you tell me which paint colors exactly? maybe I can get a better idea by looking at the colors. thanks
