Do you think more people will show up for church....
if I have a Sat mass at 12:30 pm or Sunday at 2pm. I am still trying to pick a day and my dad seems to think ppl will leave early on a Sun night, but I keep fighting with him that they will not show up for church on Sat. Help!

Re: Do you think more people will show up for church....
I think either day you'll have no-shows at the church. Unfortunately people treat the reception as the most important event of the day...and wind up forgoing the church so they can "get ready" for it. The worst is when you see women in curlers, at the church! I find that so rude.

If the reception is not far from the ceremony and you are not having a big gap in time - people should come (not everyone but most)
Once you have a distance to travel or a wait of a few hours - you will notice a huge drop in the number of people who come to the church. I find it so disgusting but it happens

Re: Do you think more people will show up for church....
I always feel that close friends and family go to your church regardless.. However what time are you planning your reception? If there is a short time in between more people may come to the church then head to the reception. But if you have a big gap they may decide to miss it and just show up at the reception.
ETA - I'm a Sunday bride and so far no one has even thought about leaving early. My reception will be over by 11:00pm. That isn't that late for those that live in close driving distance. If anything you go to work a little tired and go to sleep early Monday night - some of us have probably done it before

Re: Do you think more people will show up for church....
You know, FH and I struggled with this very thing. Bottom line, we figured those who want to come see us get married will or won't regardless of the day and if people want to leave our Sunday evening reception early, so be it...their loss!

Re: Do you think more people will show up for church....
I'm getting married on a Friday night, so unfortunately I won't have very many people at the church. I think both Sat and Sunday are fine...for people who will actually TRY to make the church!
