Re: Lets try this again... How much time do you need for pictures after churcha nd the reception hall?
I asked my photographer how much time they needed, depending on the size of the bridal party and family.
As far as how I decided: I want to be in the hairdressers chair at 7, so...
Hairdresser/Make-up Me 7-9 Mom 9-10 MOH 10-11 Extra time/travel 11-12 Pics 12-2 Ceremony 2-3 CH 3-4 Recpetion 4-8
My sister didn't have much choice as to what time to get married, she would up in the chair at 3:30 AM. She's a teacher but its still early. It also depends on if you are going to see each other before or not.

My church ceremony starts at 3:30PM and my Cocktail hour starts at 7:00PM. My reception hall is nine miles from my church.
This is how ideally the day will go: 3:30PM: Church (ceremony only, no long mass here!) 4:30PM: Out of the church and in the limo heading to Old Westbury Gardens for our 5PM appt. 5:00PM: Begin photos at Garden 6:30PM: Head to reception hall, approx. ten minutes away. Begin taking the necessary family shots asap. 7:15PM: Mingling at our cocktail hour and done with the obligatory pics.

Re: Lets try this again... How much time do you need for pictures after churcha nd the reception hall?
You have to take things like distance into consideration. Our Church and hall are 40 minutes apart. Our mass begins at 3 but the reception doesnt begin until 7 because we needed to allow about 2 hours for pictures. I think 2 hours allows you enough time without having to rush around too much!

Re: Lets try this again... How much time do you need for pictures after churcha nd the reception hall?
Wow, you all seem to be leaving a lot of time for photos in between...but what about your guests?? Do they have to hang out for two hours?
Our church begins at 2:30, so I'm anticipating leaving the church around 3:30 to head out to the reception site, which is about 45 minutes away. I'm expecting guests to take longer to get to reception than I will, so they'll arrive in time for the cocktail hour at 5pm. That's leaving us between 30-45 minutes for pics.

Re: Lets try this again... How much time do you need for pictures after churcha nd the reception hall?
i answered on your other thread - but not sure where it went. i would ask your photographer their opinion. i debated changing my 1:30 ceremony to 3pm (cocktails at 6) and the photographer was dead set against it. i figure he's the expert and if he wants that much time, i will have that many more pics.
