Save-the-date hotel wording...
I have created save-the-date cards and now would like to include additional hotel information. We are in the process of booking a block of rooms at a hotel where we would like everyone to stay (fiancé and I will be staying there, and we will most likely conduct the rehearsal dinner and post nuptial brunch there as well). We will provide other options with the actual invitation, but for now we'd like to get people on board with this one.
How to word "please book rooms and/or talk to mom if you would like us to hold a reservation in your name" without making reference to how much it costs (IMO, tacky)?
Thanks

Re: Save-the-date hotel wording...
I am guessing you want specific people (like those in your bridal party) to stay at this hotel. I would let them know by word of mouth that you prefer they stay at the hotel with you and your FH.
And I think you should let them know the costs beforehand - there's no need to expose your guests to the sticker shock of long island.

Re: Save-the-date hotel wording...
I am not worried about the cost as much as trying to "force" people to make reservations so early. The bridal party already knows they will be with us there - 1/2 our guests will be from out of town and we are aiming to continue the festivities at the hotel after the reception. If we have everyone in one place it will just make things easier, I imagine...
I think what I may wind up doing is sending out save-the-dates and then having my parents send out an email later explaining the hotel logistics...
Anyone else have this dilemma?
Thanks...

Re: Save-the-date hotel wording...
what we did so it didn't seem that we were forcing people to book at a particular hotel, was we blocked rooms at 2 hotels and gave them the information for both, along with pricing, distance from the hall and the positives of each hotel. there was one hotel that i thought was a better choice and when people asked, i told them, it is also the cheaper one so it's an easier sell. i sent the information cards from each other hotels with a little explaination along witht he save the date. this is how it was worded: "We have reserved a block of rooms at the following hotels for friday and saturday (and the date of our wedding)" The group rates are as follows: Hotel #!: (5.13 miles) $119 per night per room (has a restaurant and a bar, is right near the airport) HOtel #2: (4.8 miles) $149 a night per room (does not have a restauraant or a bar, but does have a breakfast buffet) you have until (specify date) to recieve the discounted rates. Enclosed, please find the hotel information for both - make your you mention you are reserving for the (our last names) wedding when reserving your room in order to recieve the group rate. If you have any questions, or need additional information, please feel free to call either of us int he coming months. Looking forward to seeing you soon!"
Hope that helps.
