Can my fiance wear a silver vest and tie if I have an ivory dress?

The rest of the men are wearing black vests and ties. I am confused!!! - My fiance will wear a different flower but is that enough?

IMO, I don't think so...my FH wanted to wear a silver tie too...he really has no concept of having things match. I'm wearing ivory and my girls are wearing red/burgundy...he's crazy!!!

ooops I'm editing my post lol I forgot my dress was white!!!! But I still think ivory and silver go together fine : )

My FI is wearing an ivory shirt and ivory tie. I am wearing ivory. It looks nice.

franksbride...my dress colors are similar to yours...except my dress is white not ivory....bridesmaids are going to wear dark red....and we were going to have the ushers in blakc tuxes with dark red vests....and the groom in the same back tux with a platinum ( pretty much white ) vest and tie...??? does that sound right? He was also thinking silver which is a silver and white pattern...any opinions?

also is it necessary to have the men in the wedding party rent the same shoes or let them figure out the right shoes and take a chance on them being shiny??

coldfeetgirl - my girls wore dark red. i wore white. guys wore black tuxes with dark red vests and dark red ties. DH wore black tux with silver vest and silver tie. as for shoes, no one will notice. don't worry, let them wear their own if they want.

thanks franksbride - my dress was white. so it doesn't help your issue.

but look at it this way - if you can't tell if the dress is white or ivory in the pics i posted, then maybe people won't be able to tell if your dh has silver next to ivory. i don't know, just thinking over here....

smooch...thanks for the pics that was so helpful esp to see the silver on the groom,...I think it looks nice and can be a possibility for us...both dads wore just black and white and didnt match ushers?

my dad wore B/W. same tux, just a black vest and black tie. his boutenniere was the dark red though, to tie him into the theme. and the GMs, their boutennieres were white since they already had dark red.

DH's dad doesn't wear tuxes for his children's weddings. he wore a blue suit with a yellow tie. DH's mother wore a yellow dress. so i guess they matched each other.

Smooch, I am very impressed it all looks beatiful...I was gonna have the fathers wear the red vests as well and you gave me another option...the black vests....tough choice...



or I can have the dads in red vests with red flowers and the groomsmen in red vests with white flowersor the opposite...decisions decisions "sighhhhh"

We checked out Black Tie in Smithtown last week & the owner actually made a point of saying that since my gown is ivory, my FI has to wear an ivory tux shirt and that he cannot wear silver with ivory b/c it just doesn't match. A white shirt will pick up the silver but an ivory will clash. I don't know if this is just a matter of opinion b/c I don't know a thing about tuxes. My FI didn't even try silver on. If he goes with a color at all, it might be asphalt (a deep gray).

I'm wearing a white dress, FI will be wearing black three button tux with a gray tie and vest. The BM are wearing burdeaux dresses (wine color) and the GM are wearing black tuxes with a black tie and vest. All guys wearing white shirts. The great thing about tuxes is that you can mix up the ties and vests!!

such decisions coldfeetgirl! you'll figure it out though. you have to go with what YOU and FH want! and you still have time. the vest colors don't need to be decided for some time.

thanks jvs77! i wanted colors that were elegant, bold, warm, and matched the skin tones of all my girls, which ranged from very pale to very dark, all at the same time. claret was the only color i could come up with. it wasn't my original choice but i am IN LOVE with the way it turned out.

I loved the dark red as soon as I saw it .....it is a color that looks good on everyone....not sure what color bouquet i will have but really prefer soft colors for it...Iguess that leaves only white....togo with red
