Jewish wedding question

Can you serve alcohol (champagne) before the ceremony? Is there anything wrong with that?

A lot don't do it because they don't want people drinking during the ceremony.

I don't think there are any jewish laws against it..it's more of a per-catering hall thing. A lot don't do it because they don't want people drinking during the ceremony.

As long as you aren't having a strictly Kosher wedding, it shouldn't be a problem, otherwise you would have to be sure to get Kosher champagne!

Yes, you can serve alcohol before the wedding, and no, there is nothing wrong with that. I'm having a Jewish wedding with a champagne invite. As long as you aren't having a strictly Kosher wedding, it shouldn't be a problem, otherwise you would have to be sure to get Kosher champagne! jannshari

I know my friend's priest said if he smelled any alcohol on anyone in the bridal party, there would be no wedding, so I'd just check with the rabbi.

I am Jewish and we are not serving champagne before the ceremony. I don't want anyone being drunk before the marriage and I want everyone in the room to feel the awe of the moment and be drunk from that. That, and oh yes, FI's grandmother is a raging alcoholic!!! sept20yay!
