I got married yesterday!!! Long review....

I am soooooo tired today, but we are home so I figured I would post a quick review.

Even though for some reason it was beautiful all week and it is beautiful today, yesterday it rained Although it didn't ruin our day, it caused a lot of last minute shuffling in plans due to the fact that we have be planning our beach tent wedding for six months now. Just a word of advice to those planning outdoor weddings....ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B.

Now my review:

NYTENT Company - F - We ordered a small ceremony tent and a large 30 x 50 tent for the reception. The total cost for this was over $1000. When I booked the tent I was told that we could cancel (at no charge) as long as the tent was not put up yet. They usually put the tents up a day or two before the event. On Wednesday we started calling to tell them we may cancel due to the weather. They were very "matter of fact" they offered no advice. Finally on Thursday we decided to to keep the ceremony tent and and cancel the large tent and move the reception inside. This way if the weather held out, we could get married outside, have the cocktail hour outside and have the recpetion inside and it wouldn't be a total wash. Well FI (oops I mean now DH ) called me while I was at the Tux place with my son and we were trying to decide. He said he had to call them back and the woman was waiting for his call (it was just after 5:00 and they were closing). He called them back two minutes later and they were gone. That night he called the "emergency number" and they said just to leave a message on the machine and they would get it in the morning and cancel the tent. Well they claimed we did not tell them soon enough and they charged us 1/3 of the total price. Big waste of money

All American Tent Company - A - I ordered the dance floor and lights from them and they canceled for us at no charge. Very nice and sorry about the weather. Gina was wonderful and I will definately use them again if I need to do a party.

Stony Brook Yacht Club - A+
They worked with me all week on plan B. We ended us moving everything inside and they did an amzing job setting up for the ceremony, moving people into the cocktail hour, and then resetting the room for the reception. They did it quick and efficient. Everything went smoothly. They ended up setting up the ceremony facing the windows on the beach, so we got married right in front of the water. The pictures will probably be amazing!
The food was out of this world. I received compliments all night from our guest about the cocktail hour and the dinner which was surf and turf. They said the lobster was amazing and the filet mignon was perfect. There was sooo much food.

Fr. Jim Wilshere - A+ - Fr. Jim did an amazing job for our ceremony. It was moving and funny and just perfect. He is so wonderful. We wrote family vows for our children (second marriage and we have three children between us from our previous marriage). He called the boys up (ages 3,6 and 9) and he had them all stand with us and we faced our guests, he kneeled down in front of the boys and read the vows directly to them, looking into there eyes like no one else was there but us. Our guests said it was such a moving moment that people were in tears.

Port Jefferson Florist - B - Kathy was wonderful planning and she helped me work through plan B. She was able to get an arch at the last minute that we could use inside and she decorated it with tulling. The only problem I had was that my bouquet was suppose to be lavender gerbera daisies and cream roses. When it came it was cream roses and some lavender stock. The girl that delivered the flowers told me she said it didin't look right with the gerbera daisies? I was just a little upset that she didn't tell me this before so I could have chosen other flowers. But my bouquet was beautiful so it didn't ruin my day or anything. Also my MOH's bouquet was suppose to be lavender gerbera diasies and they were hot pink! Her dress was lavender so it kinda worked but it was a little bold!

Photographer - Jack Roman and Drew Anthony - A+ - By far my best vendors of the day!!!!!!!! Working with Jack and Drew was so much fun. They came to my houe at 2:00 and just had a blast with my family and the kids and taking pictures of everyone bustling aroung getting ready. I haven't received the pictures yet but I just know they are going to be stunning.

Video - JR video - A - My videographer was Curtis and he was sweet and quiet and you didn't even know he was there! Very non-intrusive. I'll let you know how the video comes out!


Make-up - Clarin Cohen A+ - There is no doubt that Clarin is one of the best make-up artists around. She is so sweet and funny and I felt so comfortable with her. She did an amazing job and people complimented me all night! And the big test, even DH loved it and he hates when I wear make-up.

Hair - Joanna from Nasrin's Salon A+ - My hair was perfect! She did an amzing job. It was raining when I left the salon and I forgot my umbrella and she gave me hers for the day!! How sweet!

Tuxes - Black Tie A+ - Fitting went perfectly! Picked up the tuxes the day before and everyone's were perfect and fit perfectly. They even gave us extra shoes for my son!

Dress - Bridal Suite of Centereach - C - They were very helpful picking out my dress and getting it there on time, but once I paid for it everything went down hill. They charged me way too much for alterations. Totally ripped me off and the day before my wedding the claimed to have lost my veil. They finally found it but I had about fours hours of hell and being upet that I would not have a veil.

My wedding was beautiful and although it rained it was very romantic getting married in front of the windows that looked out to the beach. The ceremony was precious and the kids all cooperated! Even though my son wouldn't put his jacket on when it was time to walk down the aisle. He walked down with me and pointed to the rose petals on the runner saying "Mommy, what's that" It was so cute and everyone was giggling. We truly had a beautiful romantic day.

I was thinking of you yesterday, I said it might have rained but you know what, she is married. Boo to the tent company. COngrats. Hope to see some peekshures soon

Hi ladies!!! Thank you so much! I will post peekshures soon. Some friends had digital cameras and they are going to download the pictures and e-mail them to me asap!

Shamma, yes we are going on a honeymoon, but since I am a teacher we decided to wait until the December break. We will go between Christmas and New Years. Are plans are to go to Fiji but I still have to confirm that all up!!

Oh and I forgot a couple of more reviews:

DJ - Party Entertainmemt (John was our DJ). D - We were very disappointed with the DJ. I was suppose to get a DJ named Anthony that I heard great things about but then apparently he was going to be on vacation and they assigned another DJ. He wasn't playing the music we wanted and people weren't dancing as much as I would have liked. Everytime we asked him to play "dance/club" music his response to me was (and this is a quote) "Well the gray heads are asking for this stuff". I was like "Excuse me I am the bride and you should really play what I want". Finally during the last hour he started playing the music my friends and I were requesting and people started dancing, but it went so quick and then it was over

Harpist - Bethany Blyskial - A+ She was amazing and beautiful and it added a beautiful touch to the ceremony. Everyone complemented the harpist.

Danfords - B- We stayed at Danford's after the wedding. Our friends helped us check in and then we all went to their bar. That part was fun , but we were disappointed with the room. We were suppose to get a room in the main building facing the water, but since we checked in so late we ended up down and across the street in another building in a room with no windows at all! Except a small window next to the door. The room was nice and there was a jacuzzi, but it was not the room I looked at when I boked it. They also knew it was going to be a late check in because it was a bride and groom, so they really shouldn't have given our room away. Then there was suppose to be champagne in the room and there was not. The next morning we decided to order room service for breakfast. We were sooo tired because we got in at about 3AM. The menu said you can order up until 10:30 and it was 10:15, so when we called we got total attitude. So they finally took our order and when it came they forgot half the stuff. So we checked out at went home and ate breakfast together at home

That's it I think!!!

So happy that the day wasn't a total washout!! Sorry aobut the tent company - jerks - but everything else sounds like it went great!
