Harrassed at work! I'm sooo furious! (Long Vent)

I'm soooo upset. There is a little jerk at my office who likes to start trouble with everyone! He is only a file clerk but he runs around the office like he owns it! He likes to tell people what to do, he comes in late and leaves early, takes 2-3 hour lunches sometimes and then leaves at his normal time, etc...
90% of the office can't stand him and has complained about him to the office manager and the partners and yet he continues to get away with everything.

Well he's tried to start trouble with me a time or two but this past Friday was the last straw.

He (the file clerk) asked me to make a phone call for him (as if I were his personal secretary) and I'm on the switchboard so you have to be kidding? Obvously, I say no and tell him to hit the mailroom (since there are at least 5 phones he could've used himself) but of course I gave him a tone because I despise him. So he goes to the mailroom to make his phone call with a delivery guy that was there at the moment. I guess the delivery guy must've commented on the attitude I gave the clerk because when he was coming back out he made a comment to the delivery guy in spanish about me.

Literally translated the comment was "she needs a big d--- like mine". Now of course I was furious and I immediately told one of the partners that I had to speak to him before the day was through. So, to make a very long story shorter, I told the partner and he said he would take care of it. It is now Wednesday and the idiot is still waltzing around like he's the boss and it doesn't look like it was even called to his attention.

Therefore, I'm even more furious and I told a couple of people what happened. I found out later that they were talking about it throughout the office (not that I care because I want everyone to see how unfair things are). But a couple people commented on how I should maybe look into speaking to some lawyers because not only is that sexual harrassment but I went to the bosses about it and nothing is getting done. So, someone must've overheard this and told the big guys and I ended up being pulled into a meeting only to be told that they will handle it (when then???) and that my telling people that I'm going to sue my employer is not a good thing. So I told them that I didn't think it was getting the attention it deserved and that since they've let him get away with murder all this time I think that they will just let it slide again. So, he said that they will take care of it but there are other things that they have to take care of first and I tell him how I don't think it's fair that I should have to see his face after that.

Anyhow, I'm furious that it doesn't look like they will do anything about it (as usual) and now they have the nerve to act like I'm wrong for wanting justice.

Am I crazy? Am I wrong?

I've also heard that they've had an issue of the same nature arise in the past involving him and someone else in the office.

And the "IRONY" of the entire thing is that I work at a law firm!!! Who would've thought!

Holy s hi t would I be ****ed... They only pulled you aside cause they're scared for their as ses. Take this up as high as you can go. You have been harrased and you should not have to stand for it...

sounds like the law firm i used to work for!!! i am so sorry that this is happening. i would definitely follow thru on this one.
