officiant (non-religious)??

hi everyone, my fiance and i are looking for a officiant who will perform a non-religious ceremony at our reception site. so far we have contacted a couple of female reverends (two i found on this page!) and was wondering if anyone had any information about one of them... Rev. Joan Schauer. has anyone had any friends/relatives who have used her or has anyone met with her about their own ceremony? also, is anyone else looking for someone to perform a non-religious ceremony and how are you going about looking for someone? thanks for any info!!!! -leighann

I'm also having an interfaith ceremony. Cantor Benedict is marrying us. If you'd like his info, email me and I'll send it to you directly. Good luck!

We are using Rev. Susan Marlan. We think she is just WONDERFUL!!! She brings an extremely spiritual feel to the ceremony, without incorporating religion. I don't have her info with me today, but let me know if you are interested.

I was recently married by Father Robert Allmen of the American Catholic church (his church is not part of the Roman Catholic church). Our service was spiritual and we did have a religeous reading, but that was our choice. We found him via a reccomendation from our catering hall and he was wonderful. http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywood/4136/

She is located in Great neck, but will travel to your site. The ceremony lasts about 1/2 hour. You can include any traditions you want. She will give you many, many options. She mentioned things to us we never heard of. She really was great. And, what a soothing voice!!! I was bawling my eyes out when she asked my fiance to recite his vows to me for the first time. Susan, she will ask that you call her by her first name, has her own style that we found very classy and appropriate. Her website is www.interfatihceremonies.com.

We are using a Judge. He's actually a friend of my aunt and uncle. So we got lucky and don't have to pay, but we did get him a nice bottle of wine from Napa Valley (here in California) a golf motif wine cooler bag and a few wine and golf books. I'll put it all in a nice basket.

If you want a judge, check with the town hall.

Has anyone dealt with Adrienne's bridal shop in Islip???

We're using a Humanist. The ceremony he read to us is really beautiful with no religion and he'll change anything we want. The Humanist Society has a website but I'm not sure of the address.

Good Luck

Thanks, Leighann! I'm going to check them out.

I've tried contacting town halls, city courts...no one responds. I'd love to use someone who comes with a recommendation. Do you think your aunt and uncle's friend would be interested in performing another ceremony? Thanks!

Laura, I'm getting married at the end of September and we also had a hard time with the honeymoon choice, because of hurricane season. We ended up choosing Hawaii, but we also considered a Mediterrean Cruise...which was 7 nights, Italy, Spain & France and then an additional two nights in one of the three countries.

If you go to www.humanist.net they can send you info...what the Humanists are about and a list of officiants in your area.

Good Luck, Liz
