i totally agree!! i thought it was going to be hagrid or mcdounall. i was let down that it was sirius.

As soon as I heard that someone would die, I *knew* it was going to be him! I figured, he's the closest to family that harry has, so I guess it would hurt the most? I dunno. I hated knowing that someone died, because through the whole book, every time some little thing happened, I was like, oh, this must be it. Meanwhile, it happened relatively closely to the end.
I also REALLY didn't like/didn't get why he was so crazy about wanting to talk to Sirus after he had died. His parents are dead, if there was a way of talking to dead people, wouldn't he have already figured it out? And if he hadn't figured it out, wouldn't he be going crazy trying to talk to them instead? I don't know.
I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter, but I really can't say I loved this book. In fact, I'm a little disappointed. I feel like there were so many things left unresolved. (unless somehow I missed them) Like harry left hogwarts still mad at Hagrid, and did Percy ever start talking to his family again? Silly questions, but I figure she could have added a few more pages, or edited something out, the book was huge, what's the difference?

Somedaybride - I was thinking the same thing each time someone got hurt. I also thought that Voldemort was controling Kreacher in someway and he would turn out to be evil.

What happened to Hagrids "brother"? Did he get away??? Or did I miss something completly.

I think she left a lot of things open in this book as she did in book 4, which I personally don't mind. We never got the answers to a lot of things, but hasn't that been the case in all of the books? We're always left wondering, but why did that happen? Personally, I loved the character development in this book and I was very happy that a lot of things were explained...like why Snape hates him, why his aunt took him in, and why Voldemort wanted to kill him in the first place. I mean those are huge things that we've been left hanging about since book 1.

I knew from the beginning that it was going to be Sirus that died. It makes sense because now it's going to make Harry even more angry at everything which is going to allow him to become as powerful as he should be. Yeah we all want Harry to be the "good" guy, but hasn't she been showing a lot of his dark side in the last couple of books? I think he really wanted to talk to Sirus because he felt guilty about him dying. Harry feels that it's his fault, which is something he did not feel with his parents death. He also never had a relationship with his parents.

I have to say that I loved this book. Yes we were left hanging about a lot of things, but so many other things were answered. And now we know that book 7 is either going to end with Harry or Voldemort dying.

You're right, a lot of major questions were answered, so I shouldn't dwell on little details that were left hanging. I should have expected it, because as you said, the same sort of thing happened at the end of book four.
I actually did like the book, I just got wrapped up in the hype, and I think I was expecting more. Maybe I should read it again..

I just finished it this morning, and I have to say, I am SOOOOO glad it was Sirius and not anyone else - I had almost completely forgotten who he was! When Hermione got hit by the Death EAter and was unconscious I almost started to cry because I was afraid it was her!!!

I finished last week and I really liked it. It is rather darker than the earlier books. Some of my friends have commented that this is just Rowling's way of representing teenage angst. I don't know - maybe it has been too many years since I have experienced teenage angst!

So when does the next book come out?????

Sirus is harry's godfather, who harry didn't even know existed and didn't meet until the third book. He died in this book (book 5)

At first I thought it was going to be Mr. Weasley... with the whole snake bite thing. And later I thought it was going to be Prof. McGonagall, when she was trying to defend Hagrid, and then Ron or Hermione at the end. Sirius definitely surprised me, but it was the saddest for Harry, I think.

I agree with those who said it wasn't her best, but I still loved it! I finished it in 6 days. I'm a freak. FH is reading it now...

I can't wait for the Prisoner of Azkaban movie!! When is is coming out, this November? It was my favorite book!

when I started reading these books, my uncle told me that the British like their actors to be their real ages, and not a 20 year old playing a 14 year old like we do here, - so according to that, there should be a movie coming out every November until all 7 of them are done.

I think it was suppose to be out in November, but got delayed when the actor that played Dumbledore died.

I also am not sure if they are making all of the books into movies? I heard they may stop after 3?

I've been dying to read this post... I just finished the book and I was disappointed it was Sirius. For a minute towards the end, I thought it might be Neville now that he is getting all good at doing magic.

I think Hagrids brother is still in the forest, that's what he meant by trying to find her a girlfriend.

I thought the book was okay, a bit slow in the beginning and I was looking for someone for dramatic to die. I thought I would cry when that person died, but I really didn't. I don't think I ever connected with Sirius and didn't understand why Harry did.

I can't wait for the next book !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just finished last night - and now I'm so frustrated, I wish she would write the next one already!! What is taking her so long?

I liked it but I didn't. I thought it was really good - actually I am really glad it was Sirius - I was so sad when I thought it was Mr. Weasly, then Hermionie, then Prof. McGonagall. I think it was really sad for Harry, but it didn't make me that upset. But, the story was just so much darker than any of the others.
