Any Suggestions for an Elegant NYC Reception?
My MOH just got engaged and is looking for an elegant place to have her recption in NYC for about 80-100 people. She's not into the whole wedding thing and couldn't care less about tradition. Wantes more of a restaurant or townhouse for an intimate party feel. Also looking to do it this winter.
Any ideas?

Re: Any Suggestions for an Elegant NYC Reception?
There is a book called City Weddings that lists a number of interesting locations in Manhattan. I think New York magazine has a bunch listed on their website, too. There are definitely a bunch of townhouses - old mansions, etc. - and also cool museum options like the Museum of Natural History, Brooklyn Museum of Art, etc.

Re: Any Suggestions for an Elegant NYC Reception?
THis site has wedding reception halls in Manhattan
Manhattan sites
Edited to say:
The link doesnt take you right to it. On the upper right hand corner where it says reception site by region - use the pull down menu to choose NY-Manhattan

Re: Any Suggestions for an Elegant NYC Reception?
I just had my engagement party at Bouterin and people will not stop telling me how much they loved the place. Its a restaurant but it feels like a florist/French chateau with the way its decorated. The food is great and they even supply table decor including floral centerpieces. Its worth giving them a call.

Re: Any Suggestions for an Elegant NYC Reception?
Candela is a cool place but I never thought of it for a wedding. It cold work I guess. It is dark though. I think it would be OK for a winter wedding but not for summer. It has very little light. Staff is very good though.
Not a lot of people think of it but The Water Club is a great option. They will tell you that they can fit 175 people. Let me tell you - THEY CAN'T! I was planning a wedding for 120 and I thought it would be tight if I wanted a dance floor.
They quoted me $125 for Saturday in July. The views are amazing and the cocktail hour is on the deck of the boat (weather permitting)
They will negotiate though - they told me they don't get a lot of weddings there and I think they'd be flexible.
Great food and the perceived value of a wedding there is very high. Most people think it is $300 a head at least.
