Calling all Catholic brides..........
How many readings are there? Do you need to have people present the gifts or do the altar servers do that?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Calling all Catholic brides..........
2 readers, and you can have another person do the prayer (pray for sick, any deceased etc...)
and you can have someone bring up the gift... 2 people for that job

Re: Calling all Catholic brides..........
Readings....usually there are 2 readings. In between each is the responsorial psalm which you can pick someone to do or sometimes the person that sings at the mass will sing it and the people in the church sing the refrain with her (if spoken the church speaks the refrain). There is also the prayer of the faithful which is done during the Eucharist part of the mass. And you can have someone you choose to bring up the gifts. Again it usually is 2 or 3 people. Call the priest if you are unsure about any of this, as I think if you want to cut a few minutes out you can have just 1 reading but it depends on the church you go to. Best bet is to call priest and ask asap.

Re: Calling all Catholic brides..........
Here is what I am doing. I am having three readings (2 readings which will be read by our aunts and the gospel which will be read by the priest). The responsorial psalm will be sung by the organist. The prayer of the faithful will be stated by my best friend and BM. The gifts will be brought up by our godparents.

Re: Calling all Catholic brides..........
Is this a strange question ---
do the people doing the readings have to be Catholic?
I don't know too many Most of my friends are Agnostic or Jewish and my FI is Hindu!!!

Re: Calling all Catholic brides..........
as for the last question on the readings, the first reading is from the old testament so it would be perfect if you have one of your jewish friends read it! that's what i'm doing! mine is a jewish-catholic wedding and i'm very excited about the ceremony!
