Married Ladies: Did your Groom Give a Toast at the Wedding and/or RD??

We just saw something on TheKnot.com about the Groom needing to give 2 toasts...one at the RD and one at the wedding. We hadn't planned on the wedding (we already have his BM, my MOH, and my dad giving toasts) and I haven't a clue if he was going to say something at the RD or not. I wasn't sure if this was protocol or what...what did your grooms do?

I know at the Rehersal Dinner for my brother's wedding, my dad ans the bride's dad gave a toast, and then at the reception my brother gave a toast, but he had no best man or maid of honor.

We both said something at our RD... but it was basically about out bridal party. And FH thanked everyone at the wedding right after we cut the cake.

I think if you space out the speeches, you'll be fine... we had 4 in a row (2 best men and 2 maids of honor)...

Re: Married Ladies: Did your Groom Give a Toast at the Wedding and/or RD??

At most of the weddings I've been to, the groom "toasts his bride" at the wedding. Usually a little later in the evening after the rest of the speeches.

As for the rehersal dinner I've mostly seen the bride & groom stand up together to thank everyone.

Obviously there are no set "rules" and you should do whatever you are comfortable with. I know if it were me, there's no way I could talk in front of 200 people!

Len is not into public speaking
After his personal vows in the ceremony he was done

Seriously at the RD, we stood together but I made the speech.
Only the BM, Matron and 1 BM gave speeches at the reception.

I think my FH will do both. We've been to weddings where the groom toasts his bride and it was beautiful. He likes it, too, so I think he is planning on it but I haven't asked him b/c I think he wants to surprise me. At the RD we will both thank our parents and bridal party.

At our wedding my DH and I both made a short speech, but it was really a thank you to everyone for coming and how much it meant to us, as well as a toast to each other.....Either way you go is ok.

Darren's parents paid for the RD so he made the toast and only the mob and bm made them at the wedding.

Re: Married Ladies: Did your Groom Give a Toast at the Wedding and/or RD??

Thanks, ladies! He'll probably be too nervous to do anything at the wedding but maybe we'll both do a little something to thank everyone at the RD, maybe as we give out the bridal party gifts or something...Do you think it's weird to do this when we're not publicly giving our parents anything? We got them extra special gifts for mothers day/fathers day and gave them in private...
