Some people have commented that it's too early to be making plans???

I am getting married next August. I have my ceremony/reception site and am now working on the photography & video, my dress too! What's the problem?????

defintiely NOT too early for many things...like photog, video, music...

I might look, but not purchase invites...think about STDs...favors...and all the extras

I agree with Yabbobay. I'm getting married in May 2004 and booked most of my vendors a WHILE ago. I already have hall, church, photo, video, DJ and dress. The only thing we haven't done yet is book the florist. We're going to do that soon.

Always book early imo...we booked everything early and got cheaper prices. Its good to know too that certain things are taken care of. I think what you r doing is very smart!

the only thing people have been asking if I got was my dress... everything else people tell me I have plenty of time...
but I already did my hall photo video and dj.. for next november

Honestly, when planning a summer wedding I don't thi8nk the term "too early" applies.

Um, I have two years and am planning on starting the booking process over the summer. For two reasons: 1) I like to take my time deciding on these things and 2) I want to make sure I have the last year before I get married to worry about the smaller details, since I think those are what really add to the wedding. Go for it and don't listen when people tell you it's too early. I hear it all the time, and I don't care. I also like to arrive places early, do they wanna take a shot at that too? Good luck!

i have a lot going on until August of next year & I don't want to be going crazy next summer either

Its never too early! People who say usually can't fathom the actually time & effort that goes into a wedding(esspecially a NY wedding).

The only post I saw of yours that made me think you should wait was about your bridal party. I was told by so many people that if they could change anything, it would be that. Relationships can change so quickly- there is no need to pick until you have to.

If you do alot now, you can relax & take breaks from planning in between, and in the end, you have so much less to do.

i am going to start looking for dresses next week and florists. i figured that if i book early enough i get 2003 prices!

They are right- unlike me- 4 months to go and SSOOOOOOOOO much to do (and so little time and money)

I am not getting married till 4/05 and already have my reception site and am totally in the process of looking for vendors. Personally, I do not want to be left with all this arranging at the last minute....G**, isn't it all stressful enough And, when you think about it, one year away is not that long...it will be here before you know it. I'm with you on the early planning....

It is not too early to book your vendors! I am getting married after you and I already have all mine booked. I have only seen people comment that it is too early for the the smaller, more detailed things that you will probably change your mind about before the wedding.

I think it's DEF too early to do the little things when you have more than 1 1/2 years away..

as for the big vendors ie, hall, church or ceremont venue, officiants, band and photographers, you should do these in advance, esp if you plan on using someone who is very popular...
