What is your decorating style?

Do you just buy what you love regardless of style? Do each of your rooms have a theme - 1 room is all red roses, 1 room is all ivy, etc? Modern? French Provincial? Eclectic?

I dont have any theme rooms. I tend to use natural colors for everything - beiges, browns, etc. Im trying to incorporate a little accent color (red) into my house now but its still in the natural family. Love wood so that is everywhere too.

No idea what my taste is called but its all about Pottery Barn :D (although I will buy from any store as long as it works)

we buy what we like and where it will look good. Right now the apartment is just casual stuff. nothing fancy, no pretty designs or anything, just really casual.

but when we go to FL and have the house built i want romantic. glass dining room table with crystal candle sticks, purple master bedroom and bathroom with that romantic fung shei (sp) type of feel with candles and fresh flowers and those really cool water things with rocks.

I want the house comfortable yet intimate.

Stef you took the words right out of my mouth! I was going to say that my style is "Pottery Barn" style (not that I can afford to buy stuff from there!). I lovvvvvve wood and neutral colors. It gives rooms a comfy feel.

my style is contemporary. I'm not into the country or french provincal, nor do I like the "modern". My rooms dont all follow a theme though,

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mid-Century Modern (that Palm Springs style).... but our house is more "Pottery Barn" too!

I am the same as SonicStef the only thing the color I am adding to everything now is that burgundy red color.

I am really drawn to earth tones and darker woods. We have a very purple theme going in our apartment now, but not a girly purple. We have a dark dark purple bedroom with cherrywood furniture. We have the coolest wrought iron candle type chandalier over our bed that has purple beading on it. Then, it just turned out the couch we fell in love with was a deep purple color. We LOVE it! It's velvet and you sink into it. but we have a lot of big, gold, antique looking mirrors and stuff like that. Very romantic looking, but earthy at the same time. Geez, that description does no justice for my decorating style!

Mine taste is crate & Barrel/pottery barn....FI is ultra contemporary....so its pretty tricky decorating our place. We have a pretty good balance of both...probably more my taste though.

I would say my decorating style is a classic country.

The easiest way to define my style would be eclectic. I like color and faux finishes. I *love* to decorate bathrooms. For my purse fetish, I have an antique purse hanging from various door knobs throughout the apartment. The main hallway is lined with photos in museum-matted, thin black frames. I like simple, clean lines in the bedroom - layered ivory linens...sheer, linen panels hanging over the windows. I like big furniture in the livingroom...some distressed pieces...lots of pictures & books.

I like the look of French Provincal - but not throughout. I like the look of dark, sleek-lined furniture in the bedroom with color on the walls...but simple layers of ivory linen.

Everything in my house is Ethan Allen...The collection that I used most is the 18th Century British Mahogany! And lots of plants!!

I don't think I have a specific style really. I have earth tones, beiges, greens. I also have a very small touch of burgendy in my DR and my kitchen has some red/green country touches- little apples and plaids. I like light to medium woods. I am not considered modern at all.

I tend to lean towards Traditional, but my FH is trying to convince me to go with Rustic/Mediterranean when we remodel our home.

I basically buy what I like.

The one thing I stick to in almost every room is no very dark wood, although I reserve the right to change my mind about that at any time.
