INKSPUN- Bad Experience with them (Updated)

I know a lot of brides have used Bill at Inkspun for printing of their envelopes and been happy, so this might be an isolated case-but I'm so unhappy with the way he runs his business!

First, he wouldn't give us a final proof to sign off on of our addresses! We made some changes and just wanted to see it when they were done and he wouldn't do it. He was also very curt with me about it, obviously annoyed that I even asked! I've never worked with a printer who wouldn't do that, and he said "it's not done". Our invite person even sent us final copy for our direction cards!!

He also didn't return e-mails half of the time.

Now, we're going to pick up our envelopes today and he is trying to charge us the $6.00 shipping fee on his website by calling it a sales and handling fee!

Edited to add: We did pick up the envelopes. We didn't pay the $6 and we handed him a check. He yelled at us for not giving cash even though he said before he takes checks. There were a couple of mistakes in them when we got them home, and the ink was smudged in several places.... We're so sad!

Added a few days later: We e-mailed Bill a couple of times, and he agreed to reimburse us the printing costs. We're still sad about our ruined envelopes...

Re: unhappy with inkspun service!

$6.00 and you are picking it up yourself? I would fight that charge to the bone. I would rather pay someone else to do my stuff then give him my money after that treatment.

Re: unhappy with inkspun service!

How can he switch the fee from a shipping fee to a "sales and handling fee"? Give me a break.

Re: unhappy with inkspun service!

He was nothing but great with me- He made changes on my first proofs- but I didn't make him re-proof and there were NO problems.

Also- he turned around my seating cards in 24 hours and shipped them overnight for nothing.

Re: unhappy with inkspun service!

This was his response to my e-mail asking if we had to pay a shipping charge since we are picking them up!!!

The $6.00 is an overall fee; shipping, handling, setup, call it what you
will. That's the charge. Just pick the envelopes up or
have
me send them.

On his website it says SHIPPING FEE!

I know it's only $6, but it's the principle. How can anyone do that and think it's acceptable?

Re: INKSPUN- trying to charge us a shipping fee even though we're picking our envelopes up!

I would fight it. it is just $6.00, but it is your $6.00. His response to your e-mail was also very rude. the money may not amount to much, but it is the principle. It can be so frustrating dealing with some of these vendors.

I don't know if I'd bother fighting over $6, but that's just me. You've already let everyone know of the poor service that you've received, and I kinda think that's enough retribution. That's going to hurt him a lot more than not paying the $6 IMO.

There's no such thing as "sales and handling"...tell him if it exists, you're charging him for your car ride to his place, and call it a "travel and picking up" fee!

ARSEHOLE!!

P.S.

He also demanded cash, even though his website says we can pay by check.

Egad, sorry you're going through this. I would fight for that $6 - on principal alone - what an unprofessional louse! And I'm with Mistyeyed!

Re: INKSPUN- trying to charge us a shipping fee even though we're picking our envelopes up!

Thanks Swags... I can't wait till a time when I can take you up on it! I went to pick up my envelopes and he'd seen the board! He was really mean about it. But, I'd already written a check and we didn't pay the $6. I've FM'd you.

P.S. how's the planning coming? I still have so much to do, but it's getting there. Today was the last day of school:)

(Oh, did you see my follow up on my dress...one girl told me it would be late but she wasn't sure, I was just worried but hadn't talked to the designer. I did, and so far they've totally come through and some. I'm def. going to recommend my designer (Amy Michelson) and Kleinfelds both!)

UGH....Don't you hate it when a vendor gives a fellow LIW bride a hard time RIGHT AFTER you decide to use them? I just sent my envelopes to him yesterday.

thanx for the warning - I'd planned on using him but think I may steer clear now.

I would not pay that S&H fee - don't care if its $6 its the point. that is just ridiculous.

Re: INKSPUN- trying to charge us a shipping fee even though we're picking our envelopes up!

FYI,

I just got my envelopes back and there were a couple of mistakes. He said before that we didn't need a final proof b/c they are always accurate.
Plus, there were smudges in the type on some of the envelopes.

Awww I am sorry! Did you inspect them infront of him? Does he know? If he doesn't call him tomorrow and tell him what is wrong and see if he can do anything for you!

Re: INKSPUN- Bad Experience with them (Updated)

I am so sorry you are going through this.

I am the same way with principle and the 6 dollars. Yea its only 6 dollars, but if I am picking them up then why is their a shipping and handling fee??? I would be fighting that to the bone regardless of the fee.

I hope everything works out for you and thank you for sharing your experience.
