Making a plea (on my own) for the Newlywed board

Hey ladies,

I've noticed recently because I've done extensive peeking (as I'll be over there in 3 weeks) that a lot of BHB questions are popping up on the newlywed board. Now, there is nothing WRONG with asking newlyweds their advice, that is why they still come here, but they all tend to still post over here on BHB, and that board is for them, for "after the wedding". It's not really necessary to post and repost questions over there, because they see them over here.

This is just a request to not clog the newlywed board with wedding questions, on their behalf. LIW's has been great about giving all of us our "space" here, and it's just easier on the eyes if the wedding help questions are here, and the what's it like to be a newlywed chat is there. If you're worried about your questions not being answered by a newlywed, just throw it in the title of your thread like "NEWLYWEDS I'M DYING HELP ME PLEASE!" and I'm sure someone will respond.

Re: Making a plea (on my own) for the Newlywed board

Ok I'll bite:

Misty- thanks for that, it was probably necessary and appreciated by the newlyweds.

HOWEVER - I find that in the last month or so, virtually none of my posts are being answered or even viewed on the BHB Board. I'm lucky to get 3 answers these days whereas before I got a lot. I under stand that a lot of the girls on this board are really close friends in real life and like to chat with each other publicly and that's FINE - but I feel like a lot of legitimate requests for information and advice are being ignored (by myself and others) because it's not nearly as interesting as socializing. Or maybe you guys are totally over the planning issues.

What I DO know is that I have 4 months left, I have a lot to get done, I have a lot of questions and I am left dangling a lot. Although I have not re-posted over at the NW board, I have thought about it many times thinking "Well maybe I'll get an answer over there."

Thrilled- I agree w/ you too.
I guess I just don't understand what the difference is if anyone posts on BHB or Newlyweds?
A lot of people do it, b/c not everyone looks on all boards

Re: Making a plea (on my own) for the Newlywed board

I also agree, although I can see where the Newlys are coming from.
They want to chit chat about life after the wedding.

I know when I am a Newly in 3 more weeks, I solemly promise to keep posting on BHB and give as much help as possible

I agree Thrilled. Sometimes you need to post wherever necessary to get helpful responses to wedding related topics.

Re: Making a plea (on my own) for the Newlywed board

OK, I may get flamed for this, but its Friday so what the heck....

Arent we all supposed to be helping each other? It seems very silly to me that we are asked to keep our questions on the brides side, when there are newlyweds who have been there and can help. If I want advice from someone who has already been through this (ie a newlywed) then I am going to go where I can reach the most people (ie the newlywed board). Seems logical to me.

There are a TON of new brides to be on the BHB board. Some post about things that I am way done with, like reception halls or photographers. I dont consider this "clogging" the board, and try to help, as I have been there and want to help them. I think that spirit should be everywhere on here, regardless of what the tab at the top of the page says.

Re: Making a plea (on my own) for the Newlywed board

I am sure I'm going to get flamed for this- and I am just as guilty in doing it- but I think we should keep personal chit-chat (meaning a thread between two people) confined to FM- this does clog the boards and may be why people like Thrilled aren't getting their questions answered because their posts get pushed down deeper into the boards... I know when I first sign on in the morning I look at the first 3 pages of BHB because a lot of questions are down there do to the "chit chat"

I think this is exactly the point. The NW's that participate on the board for the most part are more then happy to answer any questions. But we are past the planning a wedding stage and have moved on to married life.

I think that spirit should be everywhere on here, regardless of what the tab at the top of the page says.

Then there's no real point of the tabs. Aren't they there to help sort everything out so it's easier to get an answer to your question?

Re: Making a plea (on my own) for the Newlywed board

I agree Sassy - I used to log on to the first 2 pages to see anything I missed but the personal stuff pushes the legit questions all the way down to like page 3 and 4. Plus there ARE a ton of new brides that have never been to GTGs so we don't know them and people are ignoring them. I feel bad for them because I know how it felt to be a newbie a year ago and how happy I was when someone paid attention to me and answered my questions.

I truly do think the personal stuff should be contained within FM or email. I happen to be very close personal friends with at least 5-6 brides on this board but you would never know it because we keep it confined to email, not to the BHB board.

Just 2 more of my cents, making a total of 4. LOL

Re: Making a plea (on my own) for the Newlywed board

The problem is that newlyweds no longer visit this page, and often my posts on the bridal board get ignored, just liked Thrilled's posts.

And as much as I like NWR board, its a bit silly to post bridal questions there just to get attention.

I think more people post there than BHB so brides turn to newlyweds, who in turn get irritated...

I am sorry and I understand the point newlyweds are making, but perhaps brides need to do more things to keep the BHB board useful (i.e. answer questions even if you're done with that part of planning)
