Mothers Day... - VENT *** UPDATED***

This being my first mothers day I thought WOO HOO special day for me, FH and our little baby... NOPE

Derek decides that he cant take the day off (he is a starter at a golf course on the weekends from 12-6) PLUS someone else asked him if he could work the morning shift and he said yes!!! This means on Mothers Day he is leaving the house at 5AM... I get to wake up with Emma (no sleeping in) take care of her all day until his A$$ strolls in at 6:30!!!!!! The I have to feed her and put her to sleep at 8. Then clean the house and go to bed. I even asked him to take off and he said "do you want me to quit?" "Do you think I cant make it a special day even though Im going to be at the golf course?"...I said NO

Did he take this job as a way to provide more income for your family or as a hobby since he loves golf? If it is to provide more income to your family I think that he is giving you a very special mother's day gift- he is working a very long work week so your family has the income it needs to provide Emma with a good home. I bet he never thought that by taking the extra shifts that he would upset you. I am sure he would rather be home on a nice Sunday spending time with you and Emma. Now, if he is doing this job because he loves golf and gets free course time or something and income is NOT the issue- then I would be upset and ask him why golf comes before his family.

I do think he can make the day special for you anyway. I would give him the chance before getting very upset.

Michele - Its so not about the $. Its because he gets free golf whenever he wants. Thats why Im so mad/hurt by it. Im waiting for Sunday... Monday I will know if golf or me takes the cake.

Like I said, if it is for the perks than I would not be happy. See what happens on Sunday. No use in being mad before the fact. It will just ruin the whole week for you

WELL... Emma woke up at 6:30. I asked Derek if he could take her so I could sleep in. He said sure after I change the laundry, take a shower and have some breakfast THEN he would watch her for an hour (instead of working he was going to play golf which he does every weekend at 8AM)... I said forget it and got up with her. THEN I was making myself breakfast, I was very cold to him and very short with him, and he came in and asked why I was acting like I was. I asked him why golf was more important than spending my first mothers day with me. Then he got mad and said Im not going to play golf anymore... (trying to send me packing for a guilt trip) thats when the tears started... I called him a few choice names, told him to go play golf THEN work at the golf course for 6 more hours and MAYBE Emma and I would be here when he got home. With that he called the people he plays with and said he couldnt make it this week. After he got off the phone he said that he wishes I would have given him more notice that Mothers Day was important to me... DUH!!!!!! I only said I wanted him there like 1000 times and we even argued about it before. ANYWAY. With that over we spent the morning together till 12 when he went to work at the golf course only to come home 2 hours later because it was so slow... We spent the rest of the day together till 6PM when Emma and I took a nap till this morning (I was hung over on Saturday from my mothers retirement party and didnt feel too hot)

Thats my Sh*tty story of my first mothers day. Prince Charming hes not.

I hosted Mothers Day, so I felt like I could have used a break too ! But I've done it every year so far, so its become one of my holidays.

My husband "supposedly" has something planned for Mothers day (we're going to LAke George on Thursday).. We shall see..
