We booked the first place we looked at. I think being to so many weddings and functions helped us eliminate before even starting the search.

We saw four:

Swan Club
Crest Hollow Country Club
Thatched Cottage
Timber Point Country Club


We booked with the first one we saw - Swan Club!

eta: We considered looking at Coral House, Fox Hollow and Westbury Manor, but we had been to weddings at all three within the past few years. We wanted something new for ourselves

I did a lot of research ahead of time, and we looked at 3 (but considered a 4th we have been to before and didn't need to visit).

I looked at Westbury Manor, the Metrolpolitan, Thatched Cottage, Jericho Terrace, Hempstead Country Club, The Inn at New Hyde Park, and Fox Hollow. Jericho Terrace gave us the BEST deal and I just got that butterfly feeling when I walked around. I am DEF happy with JT!!!!

We ended up booking with Crest Hollow in the Emrald room, It was the second place we went to, but we kept looking around because we wanted to be sure. When we compared every other place to Crest hollow we knew we had found our place .

It was a true journey for us when it came to picking our RH. I called like a thousand different places, and I eliminated many based on the price. I made appointments to 8 and saw six. On our way to one, we got lost and then didnt like the neighborhood, so we left without seeing it. Another one, I really wanted to see, but FH and I got into an argument in front of the place and never made it in. I regreted not going in on my own because it seem like it would have been a beautiful place closer to home. We really looked at a total of 6, Verdis of Westbury, Verdis in Queens, Leornards, Villa Barone, and Windows on the Hudson.

We ended up booking at Windows on the Hudson and then cancelled it a few months later when FH suggested we go to see Swan Club, so we booked SC!

I live in Ohio, so I researched a ton before I went to LI to book a RH. I called a lot of places and asked questions, but I only -looked- at three. It was pretty funny because I remember FH saying "wow, it's so weird how all of these places fit into our price range and they are all so nice." He didn't realize I did so much research beforehand .

lol, my FH thinks he's so involved b/c he's visited all the vendors w/ me. Little does he know the HOURS of research to reduce each vendor from the thousands to the 2 or 3 we visited in each area!

1. Renaissance of Astoria
2. Antuns
3. Westbury Manor
4. Nautical Cruise lines at the Nautical Mile (2nd choice)
5. Coral House

Coral House was the last vendor I looked at and had everything that I wanted, so we booked.

We looked at 7, but technically 6 b/c one place ignored us for 40 minutes AND we had an appt. They never even apologized until we walked out the door.

i would say around 7 or 8... we ended up picking the 3rd one we saw. we liked it but wanted to look at more just in case.

we physically walked into and spoke with 17 (yes, thats seventeen) halls... and we contacted COUNTLESS others.. I honestly think I have quotes for 90% of the halls on long island.

We fell in love w/ the first place but it was too far for everyone to travel!

So i tried really hard to find something else we'd love just as much - and we found it!

My dad is a florist so I have been to pretty much every RH on Long Island so I knew what I wanted and didn't want. Soo we only looked at 3 i feel in love with the 3rd one!

I should have looked at a few others but honestly didn't want to stray too far east into LI because my parents and most of my family live in Queens..

-Leonards (duh, I booked with them, but coincidentally it was one of the last places we saw)
-Westbury Manor
-Manor East (Massapequa)
-Coral House
-Swan Club
-Sans Souci
-Douglaston Manor (Queens)
-Antun's in Queens Village (Queens)
-Russo's on the Bay (in my neighborhood!)
-Verdi's of Westbury
- George Washington Manor
- Garden City Hotel (the most $$

I didn't bother checking out:

-Crest Hollow (went to my prom there and various weddings, already sick of being there!)
-Jericho Terrace
-Riviera (was booked for all October '10 dates I wanted)
-Fox Hollow (because they said they don't handle weddings for 50 guests or less)
-anything in Suffolk County (too far for FH and my family to travel)
