Nail polish

Is it only me, or does nail polish stay on your fingers, chip-free, for no longer than 24 hours? I like wearing nail polish but it chips so easily then my nails look like crap. I've tried different nail polishes and base and top coats. Does anyone have success with their manicures? If so, please tell me your secret!

Re: Nail polish

Sally Hansen's strong as nails shiney top coat - I SWEAR BY IT - It makes my nailpolish last over 2 weeks!!! Put it on once every 4 days

Re: Nail polish

I find that neither base nor top coats help me. I usually put 2 layers of polish and nothing else. It lasts 3-4 days depending on what I do with my hands.

If you're doing dishes/other household chores, that may also be a reason for polish coming off.

Re: Nail polish

That's one perk to having fake nails...the nailpolish lasts the full 2 weeks. I wonder why that is???

Re: Nail polish

I think it has something to do with nails being porous and natural oils coming through.

Re: Nail polish

I try to be good to my hands when I wear nail polish. I always wear gloves when I wash dishes - besides that, I don't know what I do normally that would make my nails chip. I tried Revlon Jet Setter or Quick Dry or something like that. Basically it claimed that the polish dries quickly and stays on your nails. It sure did! When I wanted to take the polish off I took forever!!! And of course, two of my nails chipped after several days.

I was looking at Sally Hansen - maybe I'll try that next!

Yea when you have acrylic or tips, it stays on for weeks but when you have natural nails they chip like crazy

Re: Nail polish

They sell out the door in nail salons or beauty supply places. I also found it online- don't know how to post a link, here is the address.

Re: Nail polish

I second OPI - it rocks! I use their Natural Base Coat...1-2 coats of color...and their Protective Top Coat. Polish lasts a good 5 days before chipping and I wash my hands A LOT.

Re: Nail polish

I used OPI because I heard it was great and it chipped after about a day and a half! OPI also takes a long time to dry!
