Do I need an infant car seat before the Roundabout?
I know I want the Roundabout, but do I need an infant-only car seat too? It says that the Roundabout it for use from 5lbs. But is it practical for a small baby to use such a big seat. Advise, thoughts, comments?

Re: Do I need an infant car seat before the Roundabout?
My SIL is giving me this seat, and even though it can be rear-facing for a newborn infant, she suggested to go ahead and get the infant carrier b/c it will be much easier to take the baby out of the car instead of waking him/her up.

Re: Do I need an infant car seat before the Roundabout?
I can tell you from experience w/the infant seat and the Roundabout specifically that you will need the separate infant seat. The baby will be lost in the Britax - it is way too big for a newborn or even a 5 month old! And even in reclining position, it is not as reclined as a small infant will want to be. The infant seat definitely cradles the baby more and has the necessary head support insert that also make them feel more secure.
With the separate infant seat, you will be able to enjoy the luxuries of getting the baby in and out of the car w/o waking him/her up and when they are so little - that is sooooo important. Also, you cannot use the Snap-n-Go with a Britax.

Re: Do I need an infant car seat before the Roundabout?
So I need to research infant seats. Any advise or comments? I am not sure if I am getting a snap-n-go yet so I am not overly concerned about that.

Re: Do I need an infant car seat before the Roundabout?
Get the infant car seat! In addition to the safety benefits for a smaller infant seat that Claud mentioned, it's so easy. I just switched Luke over the the bigger car seat and we're still adapting...it's much harder to pop in and out of the car - to run errands especially. I'm glad we were able to use the infant seat with him all winter. We got the Graco SnugRide, which was definitely top rated. I'm still mourning mine all packed away
Edited to add: Get the Snap & Go!!! Soooooo easy! It also really helps you with the transition as you go from being able to come and go whenever and whereever you want (no kids) into needing to plan everything - even a trip to Starbucks
edited again b/c I am a spaz - I meant to say we got to use the infant seat all winter not all weekend! Duh!

Re: Do I need an infant car seat before the Roundabout?
Be concerned about the Snap-n-Go....be VERY concerned! LOL
As far as infant seats - I believe they are all pretty similar and luckily, they are all compatible with the Snap-n-Go. I chose my infant seat based on how heavy the accompanying stroller was. My stuff wasn't a "travel system" per se, but it did fit together.
I had the Graco SnugRide Infant seat and the Graco MetroLite stroller. I loved both of these - I am still enjoying the stroller, of course. It is very roomy for Paul and has the all-important full reclining feature! It is simple enough to close using just one hand (not all strollers are that easy to close - you'd be surprised!) And, it is *very* light for me to lift in and out of the car (with one hand) - which, you will need to be concerned about too, Michele.
Edited to add - really, the best research is to go to BRU and practice opening, closing and lifting all the models you are interested in. And use ONE hand b/c lots of times, that is all you will have free!
