People who are Jewish and transportation - probably a dumb question

I started a new thread for this because I didn't want to clog anyone else's questions, but I have a dumb question.

I saw the thread about Jewish weddings and the transportation, and it seems that Jewish people don't use limos...

Ok, here is the dumb question. One of my BM is Jewish - am I reading that she's not supposed to use the limo for transportation at my wedding?

She hasn't said anything so far, but I never thought to ask her about it. I guess I'm just clueless.

hehehe this is too cute. Emdolon, its very very sweet of you to be worried about your BM. There is no religious objection to limos, so no worries. The reason most jewish brides don't use limos is that often their ceremony and reception are at the same place -- so there isn't the grand exit from the church that calls for the fancy car. There is no reason your BM wouldn't love to be in a limo at your wedding.

Fret not, usually when the bride is jewish there are no limos to the wedding, but if she is in a wedding party that is having limo's she can go into it to get to the wedding. It is just not custom for a Jewish bride to have limos at her own wedding. Usually a Jewish bride gets married and has the reception at the same place. But as my consevative rabbi says, it is modern times, so I guess anything within reason goes. Hope this helped.

Thank you girls, I thought it was some crazy custom I didn't know about. I just found out at my shower on Saturday that you can't use sharp objects (like scissors) to help you open your gifts, so I thought that maybe there are some other unique traditions I didn't know about... Boy do I feel sheepish now
