Bridal Shower Gift-Question
I am a bridesmaid in of of my very good friends weddings. Her bridal shower is coming up and I want to do something cute and creative. Any ideas? What gifts did any of you get or have seen that really stood out?

Re: Bridal Shower Gift-Question
My MOH gave us a wine rack and there were a couple of wine for each occasion labelled for something, ie your first fight, your first night in your new home, your first child etc, etc. I saw a really cool one postes by Lisa, about candles. I am going to find it and post it for you.
YOu know who is really good with creative ideas like this Stef. Some of the ladies here have gotten really creative gifts, like baskets made with home goodies, pot holder, cleaning stuff etc. I think Niecey's MIL made that. You will get more answers in the am. I also suggest you post it on the Newlywed board, we don't come to this side much.

Re: Bridal Shower Gift-Question
Here is an idea by Sonicstef, that she was considering for someone's shower last week
I tend to like to do "theme" gifts. Since none of her registry items work, I was thinking of doing a Honeymoon Survival Kit - which would include things like sunglass, suntan lotion, flip flops, a travel book about her destination, and other stuff that she and her hubby could use on their trip inside a beach bag.

Here is an idea posted by Anna
You can even do a different theme basket, how about "movie nite at home" or something else that they love, sports ? workout stuff ? something with their hobbies/lifestyles? home ?

Re: Bridal Shower Gift-Question
Here is the idea by Lisa, that I really like, I think this would be so nice
A Basket of Candles
A basket of candles that come in a pair Of all different colors for you two to share.
The White ones burn first, they are wrapped in white lace. To celebrate the first night in your new chosen place.
The Mauve ones are taller & much, much thinner. They burn with your first company over dinner.
There are candles to burn Christmas Eve before bed. Your first Christmas together…. That is why they are Red
The Navy candles are for your very first fight, Use them to burn when you are making up – ALL NIGHT!
Pink candles will set the mood and pave the way, For your very first Valentine’s Day.
Now when your first year of marriage is through The Cream anniversary pair will light for you two.
By this time we hope that maybe, just maybe You could burn the Yellow ones on the birth of your baby.
And just when you thought you could put these away, Take the Light Blue ones out for your fifth anniversary day!
Now just one pair left for the big “25” The Silver anniversary pair that will keep you alive!
So CONGRATULATIONS both of you on the start of your forever May the two of you always be happy together. Now burn these candles just the way we said But please, XXXX & XXX, don’t forget…. Blow them out before bed.

Re: Bridal Shower Gift-Question
Here is something Claud found on google
8 Lessons on The Tree That Tells
A Christmas tree in a Christian home can be a tree that tells. It should not only set the mood for Christmas, but should also tell the story... First, the tree itself should be evergreen, a pine or a spruce, to remind us that life is everlasting.
Second, every tree should have a star upon it. It was a star that guided the three Wise Men on their way to Bethlehem. Third, every tree should have upon it a boat. The ship has been a symbol of The Church for centuries. The Church, like a boat, sets sail across the waters of life, sometimes rough and sometimes smooth.
Fourth, our Christmas tree should have upon it a bird. The bird is a reminder of the Holy Spirit. Fifth, a fish should hang on the Christmas tree. The fish is a symbol of Jesus, since he told his disciples: "follow me and I will make you fishers of men." In the early church, Christians placed the fish symbol on their homes as a sign to traveling Christians that there were members of their own faith living there.
Sixth, every tree should have an angel. The song of the angels awakened the shepherds in the field to announce the birth of Jesus Christ. Seventh, every tree should have various colored spheres upon it, to signify the diversity of the world in which we live. Eighth, a tree should have a paper chain or garland wrapped around it because we are all bound together under nations and people by the love of God. Finally, there should be many lights on the tree to tell us that the light of God is reflected by people throughout the world.
Finally we tracked them down. Here are the real 12 traditional ornaments for a bride's first Christmas tree:
Heart- love in the home House - family shelter Flower basket - beauty in the home Basket of fruit - plenty Teapot - hospitality Bird in a nest - confidence in the shelter Pinecone - eternity Animal - peace with nature Fish - Christ, as well as fertility Rose - Virgin Mary Church or angel - God Saint Nicholas - giving and sharing

You also might want to get them something like a "Date Night" gift that they can use after the wedding. Something like a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant and to the movies. Then add some things to it to make it creative. I would make suggestions but I do not have a creative bone in my body!

Re: Bridal Shower Gift-Question
I went to a shower yesterday, and they did the house hold cleaning poem. I don't remember the poem, but you can be creative and come up with your own cute one. Buy Joy, Pledge, Dove, ERA, Fantastik (etc.) you get the point.
My FMIL gave me a huge wicker laundry basket filled with all types of laundry stuff. It was cute. My mom did the same thing with a cleaning bucket filled with all types of cleaning stuff (gloves, sponges, fantastik, windex, joy, etc.)

Re: Bridal Shower Gift-Question
I have done the poem with the cleaning stuff - always a hit.
I have done the honeymoon tote - very cute.
I rec'd the wedding cake of towels and the candle basket - nice touches.
I have done and rec'd a basket of decorations for every holiday - a gift a year in the making though. Includes holiday dish towels, pot holders, window decorations, lights, decorative party bowls and plates, place mats, candles, etc.
I have done a basket of misc. home items such as can openers, ice cube trays and other misc. kitchen utensils.
My mom filled the medicine cabinets. She got a laundry basket and filled it with all stuff for the bathroom.
Other things I have seen: address all her shower thank you cards, sexy honeymoon basket (scented candles, lingerie, body paints, etc.), hat box of pj's (make a clothes line using a hat box and attach everything from sexy/rauchy lingerie, some nice stuff, to feet pj's), backet of candles and pot potporri.
Good Luck...

Re: Bridal Shower Gift-Question
Wow, these sure are some great ideas. People are so creative and I feel bad for stealing all these ideas. LOL I have just spent the last 15 min writing down some of these thigns and the candle poem which is AWESOME! I already started a HM theme gift for my sis bridal shower coming up. I bought a beach bag and have been filling with all the HM essentials for her Aruba HM.

I did a basket of games (poker chips, gestures, pictionary, etc) for my cousin's shower. It was a big hit.
