san jose hotel- costa rica- which one?
Planning on going to CR for 2 weeks. We are thinking of staying in San Jose for 2 days. Which hotel should we stay at? They all look wonderful. Hotel Fleur de Lys Hotel Grano de Oro Hotel Don Carlos Xandari (this is close to san jose, right)
Then I think we'll go to Tabacon (not sure by air or car) for 2 days maybe?? And also Punta Islita, Manuel Antonio (Villa Caletas, Si Como No, Tulemar Bungalows) and Osa Peninsula (La Paloma). Does this sound ok?

Re: san jose hotel- costa rica- which one?
No sure of the hotels I would have to see the pictures of them. Tabacon is a MUST!!! If you are in San José you don't have to fly, you can get a tour company to take you there or possibly a car service. Manuel Antonio is supposed to be awesome. I never made it there but I heard from the rest of the groups that it is was great. I was into the black sand beaches and volcanos and the rainforest at Monteverde. If you are staying in San Jose make sure you go to the market place that is about blocks up from the pedestrian walk and on the right. Great stuff and much cheaper. I will search and see if I remember any of those hotels, most of the ones I stayed in were locals. (I studied abroad there)

Re: san jose hotel- costa rica- which one?
I have heard good news on Xandari and Grano de Oro. We're staying at Xandari for 2 nights, but remember, Xandari is not in San Jose, its in a suburb town next to san Jose, but closer to the int'l airport.
If you do a search on costa rica, you'll get most of your questions anwered.

Hotel Grano de Oro
Street Map
Hotel Fleur de Lys
You may have to take a cab to get to the Plaza Cultura because some of the areas are not great to be walking around in when you don't know. I don't remember either of those I am looking for the one we really liked.

Re: san jose hotel- costa rica- which one?
Thanks for your help! I've done searches on the past posts - there was so much helpful info! I hadn't seen much about where to stay in San Jose- I did notice that Xandari was 20 mins away from the airport but I thought it was in San Jose. La Gran Via would be nice to stay in since it's right in the center. Maybe I'll do that for 2 nights. Is 2 nights too much?
How far is San Jose from the airport?
Thanks again!
