I wouldn't know what to buy either. What about a gift certificate to a nice restaurant or something?

Re: I've been invited to a 1 year anniversary party
That's weird. Do you think they really expect gifts?
Their registry is still probably up, you should get them something off that, that maybe they didn't get the first time.

Re: I've been invited to a 1 year anniversary party
Someone told a friend of mine that they couldn't come to her wedding because they were going to one of these and she was SOOOOO PI$$ED!
I'm sorry, but I just think its silly - you made a year and thats worth celebrating w/ everyone? 50 years is an accomplishment, not 1 (its the gift thing that gets to me)...sorry, JMHO

Re: I've been invited to a 1 year anniversary party
I have heard of them - but have never met anyone who actually had one.
Do they have a new house? You could get them something for their house - a beautiful vase, a gift cert. to somewhere where they can buy something for their home

Re: I've been invited to a 1 year anniversary party
I don't know. We're approaching our one year anniversary and I think its worth celebrating. But I wouldn't expect gifts. We're not having a party (we're going to Vegas), but I could see gathering some friends to celebrate with you. Is it a formal party? that'd be strange.
Maybe you could bring them just a bottle of wine or champagne. I wouldn't go crazy with a gift.

Re: I've been invited to a 1 year anniversary party
that would be nice. Did they buy a house? Home Depot is akways good. Or you can make up a basket with wine, cheese, and glasses.

Re: I've been invited to a 1 year anniversary party
Thank God my estranged BIL and SIL didn't think this one up! They've already done a shakedown of the family/family friends for every other gift giving event they could think of. After awhile, I saw people bringing white flags to these occasions!!!

Re: I've been invited to a 1 year anniversary party
My sister had a one year anniversary party and we were like
It was nice. She had a small wedding so I do not know if that made up for the wedding or not.
I am with the others that say 30, 50 years but 1 year please.

Re: I've been invited to a 1 year anniversary party
I think it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of! NO OFFENSE to anyone! I went to one a few years ago for my friend and all I brought was a bottle of wine... sorry, no reason to celebrate one year... pointless to me JMO

Re: I've been invited to a 1 year anniversary party
Ditto on the wine suggestion. If you want to be even nicer, you can throw some glasses in as well.
I have been on LI weddings for a year (a little over actually) so I am having a belated one year anniversary party for myself, you are all invited

Re: I've been invited to a 1 year anniversary party
A nice bottle of wine it is!!! Thanks ladies.
It's not a formal party per say. It is being held at her parent's HUGE home out east.
