Getting marriage certificate/license
My fiance received a letter the other day saying that they need his baptismal information from his church in order to get the marriage license.....which he has. We are going to drop it off at my church on Saturday.
What is the process in getting this? How long does it generally take?>
THANKS!!

Re: Getting marriage certificate/license
marriage license you do through the state not the church. Now the church does need your baptismal certificate to get married in the church. But to get your marriage license go to your town hall and get it. I went to the court houses in queens to get my marriage license and got it the same day.

Re: Getting marriage certificate/license
I am not really sure if you are asking about marriage license or baptismal cert. If it's about the baptism certificate. I just called the church & had them mail me a copy. It took 1 week.

Re: Getting marriage certificate/license
My church asked for FH to send the baptismal certificate with the dates of all the other sacraments. I brought it there last week. I suppose the church will take care of the rest?
In regards to the marriage license, I know that is done by the state, but what do we need for it? I would like to apply next week and want to make sure that I have everything ready for it!

The baptismal certificate is JUST for the church, they want to see it bc in order to get married in a church you need this, so its their rules.
Depends on where you go, i went in queens to get my marriage license and all i needed was my drivers license. In Long island many places require a drivers license and birth certificate.

Re: Getting marriage certificate/license
Okay that is easy enough. We have all of that info in safes at our houses. Thankfully there is nothing else that we need for the state license. I feel relieved now. The church has what they need and we have whatever the state will need
THANK YOU!!!! You ladies are the best!
