i don't think i ever noticed vendors at weddings i've been to in the past eating but i wasn't really paying attention
at my hall, vendors eat for half price and yes you HAVE to feed them... some even specify thisin their contract...

I believe you can look on this site there are some people who have hired calligraphers (sp?) and some who have just printed them themselves!

this is a great thread!
We arent doing a recieving line and will be at our CH to (hopefully) greet all the guests there. I dont think i saw this idea posted yet here.
I also had the stupid question about who sets up all my stuff. I have fans and programs and shells and all this little detail stuff. who will set that out? the RH or do i need to have someone over there earlier in the day to set it all up?

I am not sure if RH's are different but when I was the bridal attendant at Raphael - the person who set up all your cake flowers, votives, flutes, cake cutters, guestbook, and whatever else you decided to bring with you? Yea that was me haha.

I thought of another one.
I was thinking of doing BM dresses as separates (like a two piece top and bottom). I know they're more expensive than a regular dress - but does it save money on alterations since you could get two different sizes?
I'm sure the answer is probably no since it seems nothing wedding related is cheap.

WHAT DOES THE COUPLE DO WITH THE CANDLE AFTER THE WEDDING? I'VE NEVER SEEN ONE ON DISPLAY IN ANYONE'S HOUSE. I FIGURED THE SAND WOULD LOOK NICE AND WE CAN DISPLAY IT FOREVER.
Because I thought the same thing, I ended up getting a floating candle. Its like a glass vase so I will use it after the wedding as a flower vase.

I used to work at Leanords of Great neck and they used them all the time. I think it depends if the RH is insured for them or not. Call up your RH and ask them, they should be able to help you.

Stupid ques bec I totally forgot to ask and I have to go back and read my contract but if you guarantee 300 people lets say and only 250 show up does the RH refund that money, Im guessing no , so do you have to pay extra for the plates that did not get eaten, lol

Another stupid quest, (sorry if this was asked already) but happens to the tall CP vases at the end of the night, do they get returned back to the florist or does the RH keep them ??? or do the guests take them home???

Ok, Stupid Question #1: Does every ceremony use the unity candle? I wanted to started some of the DIY stuff like that but not if it's something not everyone does. (We're getting married in a church.)
Stupid Question #2:I can't seem to get a straight answer on this - are sparklers legal in NY? I would LOVE to use them at my RH but don't want to bother asking them if they're not legal.

#2 Sparklers are LEGAL. You just have to check with your RH to make sure its ok with them.
Fireworks are not legal without a permit. You need to hire a firework company like Grucci or Bay to help you with the process. You need permits from the town that the RH is in.
Indoor Pryo is not legal in NY. That would be sparklers coming out from the cps and little explosions.
I know this b/c I work with Grucci all the time for my events.
FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK PERIOD!!!

Yup, you still have to pay. I've heard that sometimes they'll thrown in some other stuff for free if that happens though.

What kind of stamps did you use for sending out your STD’s? FH was trying to be helpful and went to the post office for me… I told him to get the Love stamps or something like that. He ended up getting 80 of the Liberty Bell stamps because that was all they had!
Do you think it matters? I feel like it's such a waste to buy 80 more, it'll take me forever to use up that many stamps!
