Certain Friends not coming to shower.

Ok, I have seen a few posts on this & didn't think it would happen to me...and just found it it would.

I used to babysit for 2 kids started when the baby was 6 weeks....watched them for 3 years & have been in there lives ever since.
Both children will be in my wedding (Now 16 & 18) So I have been around for 18 years. I just found out the Mom is not coming becauuse it's her bestfriends daughters baby shower. I am soooo hurt I can't even begin to tell you.
The daughter said...oh yes, she is going to baby shower because they don't really have family. Does she think i do? LOL No I don't. Yes, I am marrying into a Greek family (Large) but my family is not. Out of the 220 for the wedding only 50 is mine. I guess nothing I can do...but honestly I want to cry I am so upset. She was just telling me the other day how she was going thru pictures & I never missed a thing. Why would she do this to me? Her so called BF was never around for any of her kids things!!
What do you ladies think?

I think that's just silly! You are like an adopted part of that family. She should make it a point to be a part of your day! I'm with you on that.... I do not have a big family either and I was disappointed to learn that my (2) flower girls (cousins)and my aunt their mom... in addition to some other family could not be there - and of course one of my BMs. (but they will hopefully all be at the wedding).. it really does stink. when the majority of the people are your FH's family and you wish your family / extended family friends could be there to support you, but honestly as hurt as you may be feeling there's not much you can do- Just enjoy your day!! enjoy the people who are there and make the most of it ...

you will notice that alot of people will disappoint you.
there is always that one person you consider the "closest" that does this. you cant let it get to you. just forget about it one person wont make a difference . It hurts I know. one of my childhood friend/my DH close friend didnt come to my WEDDING because he was in a accident. but the next day he was seen BOWLING(making strikes!!) like WTH

what can you do. people you think care sadly dont.

Yes, the daughter 16 son is 18
The Daughter said..they felt it was a good compromise. Since she will be with me...the mom could be with her BF. I just can't even begin to believe it. I guess like you say..nothing I can do.

Trust me, I was stunned at some of the people my mom said are not coming. My own cousin isn't coming and her daughter is my flower girl. She met a new guy who invited her to a wedding that's the same day as my shower. I was shocked and saddened when she broke the news to me

I'm so sorry!!
Unfortunately like a previous poster said, once you start planning your wedding, you find out that not everyone is on your side . I had a lot of disppointment from people from cousins who never bothered to RSVP to longtime friends who kept promising a gift (we are still waiting). I think it taught me a lot about the true nature of certain people...it doesn't change things but it makes you more aware of what they're really like.

Donna so sorry to hear that I too had a few "key" people who did not attend my shower. I can honestly say they had a more legit. reason (health issues) but it did hurt that they weren't there. You will have a fantastic day so enjoy every second of it.

a good friend isnt coming to mine because "she didnt get a job enough notice" meanwhile my cousin who is a bp slipped last week and told me the invitations went out awhile ago (longer than i thought!) and she should have got it awhile ago--because i told her about this.

So now my friend is saying that her job wont let her take the day off meanwhile she emailed me how she is so excited she has weekends off.

HELLOOOO!! If you're going to lie at least remember your damn lie!!




Is it mean to hope i still get a decent gift at least? I spent a fortune on hers (i was a bm) and meanwhile the moh showed up late and didnt do anything. I had to do all the running around and going early to set up..the moh was too tired all the time!
