2 questions ladies...

1) anyone know of a place to get some good pictures of wedding cakes? I'm looking to get the image out of my head and I can not find a good picture of what I want.

2) is everyone doing a bridal boK toss at the reception? FH thinks it's a silly traditon but said it's up to me. However I can't decide....
just curious what everyone was doing?

Thoughts?

Re: 2 questions ladies...

i don't want to do the bouquet toss because all of our unmarried friends and cousins are over 30 and they don't like getting up for that...personally, i think it's a bit depressing to be trampling others for a bouquet at that age, too.

at first FH wanted to do it because it's tradition, but then he said that his 2 nieces (26 and 23) would probably want to catch it, along with my cousins' teenage daughters. I mentioned to him that there would be a total of 6 people interested in this, and how many guys would actually want to catch the garter? So, he's changed his mind and agreed we don't have to do it

search on here, lots of great cake threads

i did a bouquet toss. i think it depends on your situation -- im 24 and was the first of my home friends to get married, so there were lots of single girls who wanted to catch it. it was a big hit, and my florist made me a small tossing bouquet so i didnt have to toss my real one. i went to a wedding 2 weeks before my own and caught the bouquet which i really enjoyed

we didnt do a garter toss... well, officially. we did do it at the afterparty when the younger crowd was all in a hotel room and intoxicated.

i searched yahoo images and found tons....not sure what colors you're looking for, but the knot has a decent selection too.

we skipped the toss/garter and did an anniversary dance. people are still saying how classy it was and it got all the married couples on the dance floor (most of our friends are married).

Re: 2 questions ladies...

it's so hard to decide- I think I'd like it... I am one fo the first of my friends to get married... I'm sure a lot fo them would enjoy a boK toss and would like to catch it... but I'm not sure if it's too juv. I'm sure my MIL would not approve... but even more so b/ c that's not my deciding factor! she'll get over it and whatever I decide but it just seems a little out of context to a more elegant wedding?

We would not be doing the garter- FH made that very clear already. I guess I'll have to think about it some more... any one else have any thoughts on the boK toss?

Re: 2 questions ladies...

i dont' think there's anything non-classy about it. it's a tradition that many people do...if you think it will be fun, i say go for it!

we did an anniv dance too and it was a big hit. we told the band to include "anyone married in the past 3 weeks sit down" to honor our friends who just got married. the funny thing is, we didnt realize the song we picked would be their wedding song

The Knot's website has a great cake photo gallery

No, we didn't do the bo-k toss or the garter thing because all our friends are married or older and would never get up to do it. Also I think I would've been embarassed We did the anniversary dance also and we had the MC give a bottle of wine to the couple that was married the longest (60 years!!! ).

Re: 2 questions ladies...

I got maried at 34, and it was not sad to be single in your 30's. Please think before you write such things!
We did do the bo-K toss, and all of my friends are in their late 20's/early 30's and it was fun. Same with the groomsmen.
For cakes, I don't know, the rh gave me a photo album of cakes I could choose from, and I just picked one out. So not worth stressing about!
