How long.....
before your wedding are you having your first fitting. If I am getting married on October 1th, can I go like 2nd week of August? Or would you say sooner?

I think the standard is to have your first fitting approx. 6 weeks before your wedding, unless of course you are expecting they are going to have a ton of work to do on your dress.

i had my first fitting today and my wedding is august 24th. it fit like a glove, even the height was perfect....my next fitting is august 5th just so she can do the bustle.

I'm getting married on Nov 2, and they told me to schedule my 1st fitting in July. I have a lot of beaded-lace trim on a split-front, the dress is long and I'm short, so I think it's going to take a while to get the hem correct. Depending on what you'll need done, I'd say either July or August.

normally about 6 weeks is good, honestly dont start any sooner than that...the last few weeks are hectic and your appetite changes and you lose weight...make sure that you schedule your final fitting about a week before the wedding...unfortunately i did it close to 2 weeks just a little under and i wish i did it about a week before, but bc of appointments available and with my schedule it was the only time i couldve done it...now when i went for my final fitting 2 weeks before i knew i couldnt lose any more weight bc if i did the dress would be loose and unfortunately that is what happened...i was running around from morning to night so much, i barely had time to eat, my stomach was in knots and going through so many emotions i didnt have much of an appetite so i didnt do it on purpose, infact the weekend before i ate pasta and heavy food bc i was losing weight quickly but that didnt help bc the week of my wedding i barely got to eat and lost the weight regardless...it wasnt huge on me the dress but it was a bit loose and i do see it in pics.
I know alot of girls are in a hurry to start fittings but its best to wait closer to your wedding
AND NOOOOO it doesnt take long for them to do things...my dress was long and they had to hem it, now i had ALOT of beading on my train, the whole train had beading, not to mention the whole bottom of my dress in the front had all beading. NOw in order to hem the dress they had to remove the beading in the front and put it back on, there was no other way since the beading went all the way to the bottom...so you would think with removing all the beading on the bottom, then hemming it and then putting ALL the beading back would take long but it only took a week for them to do it. So dont think it takes long even for difficult things
