Did your FH ask your fathers/mothers permission?

One of the first things I said after "YES!" was "oh my god....did you ask my dad?!" hahahah I don't know why i thought of it right away !

It just popped into my head and made me laugh so hard.

And yes he asked and I think thats the cutest thing ever.

Nope cause I told him if he did that and I found out I would say NO

I wanted it to be my decision! ( not that my parents would have said no) they love him

Yes he asked my dad. He was so nervous! My parents loved it and so did I- I thought it was so cute.

so EVERYONE knew but me.. my whole family and his entire huge family. In fact his dad, 2 brothers, and brother-in-law all took a trip down to the city to get the ring with him!

My FH did not ask my dad. If did I wanted him to ask my uncle we are very close. Fh did not even tell his family. One the hardest things to home to his mother said congrats and turned her back to me. She was pissed at FH for not saying anything. But she is really happy for us. She was just in shock.

of course he asked my dad...coming from a european family (me, Not him)..he knew it was the right thing to do.

I dont have a great relationship with my dad
I think that if my FH asked my dad and my dad said no (because he wanted me to finish school) that it would sway FH's decision. My dad is like that very controlling!!

my FH asked my dad while we were in atlantic city and you know what my dad said... i quote "are u sure"... he said that twice to FH.. then he said ...remember she's exactly like her mother... grant it they have been married for 20+ years so they must be doing something right !!! hahah

its not something that i ever really thought about....


however, he did go over to the house and ask them.... he hung out for about a half hour and showed them a picture of the ring!!!

i am so glad he did that.... i thnik that was so sweet!!!

FH didnt tell his parents either...and waited until they were away to ask me---they were mad and ruined our engagement.

but FH kinda asked my dad...he had my ring in august 07 (which i knew about) and before my dad died i told FH that it would be nice to tell my dad...so about a week before he passed me and FH took my ring to the hospital and showed my dad, who did the cutest thing--he like pointed to his glasses (bc he was on oxygen he couldnt really talk to much) and i was like "what its that small?" and then i left the room and stuart told him he was going to ask me...

that was sad to tell, but thats how it happened

My mother had been telling FH while we were dating that they love him and they hoped we'd get married one day. In fact, my dad even joked with FH that he had his "seal of approval" He didn't have to ask them outright because he already knew the answer. Also, he knew the second my mother had a clue that it would no longer be a surprise (my mother has a big mouth )

my sisters knew for like 3 weeks and wouldnt tell my mom bc they knew she'd burst and spill the beans while they were up for x-mas! hahahaha Moms cant keep secrets.

First FH asked my dad if we could move in together (about a year and a couple of months before we got engaged) then he asked my dad if he could marry me. My dad's reply was "what took you so long I've been waiting for you to ask me!"

My dad travels almost five days a week on business. FH found out he would be at home for a few days and flew from NY to Chicago to meet with my dad for an afternoon (all unbeknownst to me) and ask for his permission. with my parents living half way across the country, i think it was really important to my dad to feel like he was involved in some way in this important moment in my life

Nope he didnt ask...and I'm totally fine with that.
He had side convos with all the improtant people in my life though.

My dad was living in Florida then and he'd never met him, so he actually sent him an email!

He asked my mom too though.
