Should I Be Mad
Here is the situation. I do some volunteer work at a school in Brooklyn as a speech & debate coach. The national finals are next week and DH & I will be taking the students to Wisconsin. The other adults on the trip are a students mom and our friend, who is the head coach at the school. We have been emailing back & forth about the bus transportation and other things concerning the trip. I just got an email from him saying that we have 5 rooms and the rooms are as follows:
1) 3 seniors
2) 3 sophomores
3) 3 juniors & 1 sophomore
4) me & the students mom
5) dh & him
Now I was more than a little steamed and I wrote back asking why DH & I weren't in the same room and when was he planning on telling me this. Keep in mind I have been trying to get the hotel & flight information from him for weeks and the only way that I got was by asking the school for a copy of the permission slip. Am I over reacting or should I just let it go? I am sorry if this was too long and thank you for reading this.

who did the accomadations and does it really matter what the email says??? can't u just jump in a room together when u get there?

I would look at it this way - it saves a room.
The other option would be you and DH, and
coach and the mom -> that does not look good.
But, I would be peeved about not getting the travel arrangements as they were set.

I understand you being upset but maybe cause theres only 2 adult rooms that he didn't feel comfortable staying with the mom thats why he did that

exactly....but honestly, i'd just splurge and pay the extra for u & the hubby to have ur own.. even if it's from ur own funds if it would make you more comfortable.
but try not to fight with dh about it...i think he was just trying to do whats best..((siigh)) boys

Yea I agree. It could also be a school rule; keeping it PG so to speak because there are kids involved. Might be a matter of apperances-happened when I was a camp counselor. Two of the counselors were amrried but werent allowed to share a cabin either due to the fact it "wouldn;t look right." And thatw as 2 months at a sleepaway camp!
But its more than likely what caroline said. I'd just let it go.

Thank you all for listening to my vent, I knew that you ladies would help to put things in prospective. What got me is that he knows that DH has a bad back and sometimes his back spasms, especially at night and he was like is he going to get up and put the muscle relaxer on my back and he is embarassed by a condition that he has with his left leg ( a result of a childhood accident). I just spoke with my friend and he said that he told me about this months ago and I explained to him that he didn't and that if I knew I wouldn't have been upset, especially if it would help the school save $$$. Thank you again for listening.

Yeah that's how I took it as well, I understand its frustrating but dont get too worked up over it. It really would look bad if him and the mom had to sleep in the same room. (I know I wouldnt do it)
Sorry bc I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear.

glad you cleared it up w/ him. personally if i was concerned and wanted to stay in the room w/ my dh, id pay out of pocket since the school made the arrangements to save their $. you could still get your own room for you guys.

Well I'm glad you've seen it in another light. I'm sure my initial reaction would be to be upset as well, but honestly the school's jsut trying to save $$. Its nice that they can even send the kids to Wisconsin.
