Easing the Pain of a Sore Throat
It started on Tuesday evening out of no where I had a frog in my throat. It continued Wednedsay to the mild amusement from my coworkers and students. Interestingly enough, I was able to get through 2 books because they were so entertained. I wake up at 5:45am today to find I've lost my voice and it feel like someone attacked my throat with a scalpel (accompanied with scratchiness). Can you gals share your fixes?

Re: Easing the Pain of a Sore Throat
When I was a little girl my grandmother used to take a teaspoon of salt and put in a glass of warm water. She would stir it and then make me gargle with it for a couple of minutes and it really does work.

Re: Easing the Pain of a Sore Throat
O sweetie I am sorry to hear that. I do tea with sugar. I know people say honey but I don't care for the taste of honey in tea. It's the only thing that works for me.... sometimes I even use milk... Feel better

Re: Easing the Pain of a Sore Throat
go to a Whole Foods, GNC or health food store and buy "Throat Coat" Tea and a few packs of Thayers Voice Lozenges. When I would get hoarse from singing, this was the only remedy that worked. Also, no whispering, no smoking, no caffeine (NO tea with honey unless its decaf or herbal), try not to cough, no alcohol. If you have a humidifier, I'd run it. You can also try gargling with warm salt water or peroxide.
I do not recommend Cholraseptic spray or anything that "numbs" the area. If you numb it, you will not feel if you are doing any harm. Its like running on a sprained ankle on painkillers- you can cause permanent damage and you won't know it till later.

I've never heard of it but at this point I'm willing to give it a shot. I love whole foods so it will be worth the visit.

HOLY no's I'm guilty of violating 3 out of the 5 .
I've been using Simply Gargle which is a Salt Water Rinse but other than leaving a crappy taste in my mouth it has not done anything productive.
Keep the suggestions coming ladies I'm willing to try anything at this point.

try some hot ramen noodles... (eating them, I'm not recommending putting them o hubby's junk) I was prone to sore throats growing up, and that always helped soothe them...
